Frustrated with my prenatal care.

i go to a public hospital for my antenatal care but i never see the same mid-wife and our hospital dosent even have a matunity ward for birth i have to go to the public hospital in the next town to have my baby. i went into premature labour at 24 weeks and went to the local hospital, they left me sitting in the waiting room for over an hour and a half before my husband got angry with them and told them he was not happy with them. then the hospital sent me to the hospital in the next town. i wont be going back to my local if anything else happens.

That sucks! I am sorry. I am worried a bit too about my doctor but at least I get to see him every time. He makes an awful lot of cracks about C-sections though and it freaks me out because I really would like to do it as naturally as possible seeing as how both my sisters, my mom, my aunt and cousins have all had natural births. I am afraid that some docs and hospitals have become so business oriented that what the mom wants comes second to what their schedule is or their preference... I have heard that going in with a written birthplan helps at least with the hospital and maybe you could even send a copy of your intentions to each of the doctors at the facility you are using, it couldn't hurt right? I wish you luck!!!

That really sucks and isnt very professional!
Do you think its to late to change midwifes/doctors? I would if it were me in your situation. Whenever I had worries i would call my midwife and make sure they checked me out and if i wasnt fully happy with everything i would ask them to double check things etc.
If you are having a normal smoothe pregnancy I dont think they check for that sort of thing anyway, i was induced and they didnt check my dilation etc until the day i was induced.

That really sucks :-( At least now that you are going to give birth it will all be over with! Hopefully next time you will get a better doctor now that you know to not go back there!

So, this past weekend I didn't get a lot of movement. Monday I called about it and had to go to the hospital for a non stress test. Then they told me I needed to have an ultrasound to check her and the fluid. I'm just .8 above them inducing me. Her entire back has NO fluid. They U/S tech sent me back to labor and delivery with concerns about the amount of fluid. Then they made an appointment for me to go back tomorrow (Thurs) and have another test and U/S to check fluid again. Today I had an appointment with the NP and she checked my cervix. 90% effaced and 2 cm dilated. I've been having contractions and didn't know, they told me at the hospital because I had some there. The NP says they won't let me go over my due date (28th) because of the fluid and her not moving much. It looks like I'm going to be stuck with the Dr. from Hell though!

Sorry about that. Although my doctors office has a team of 5 or 6 doctors ive only seen one my whole pregnancy, and I love him. Unfortunately he may not be the one to deliver me because it is based on who is on call although dr. haskett almost always catches his babies. i hope the next one goes better, and i hope they didnt ruin your pregnancy experience.

omg im so sorry to hear whats been happening for you. im so lucky that i have a good midwife that takes care of us but my sister in law (im 15 weeks shes 18weeks) had trouble with her midwife from day one. she had a tear in the sack, her midwife told her baby definitely wouldnt survive and told her there were no specialists for this condition. she sat back for a month basically waiting to miscarry then decided to talk to my midwife and see if she had a different point, my midwife straight away put ehr on bedrest, put her throgh to a specialist and goes to see her so she can hear babies heartbeat every week without having to get out of bed. she got her from 10 weeks to 18 and shes stopped bleeding!
this is only my first pregnancy and i really know nothing about this sorta thing but is there any way you could change or is it kind of too late for that?

They pass me around for OBs, but that's because I live in Canada. They try to get you to see as many as possible because whoever's on call will end up in the delivery room :P It's not so bad though. As long as your baby is healthy everything will turn out fine

I have had some really bad care....too bad you didn't change sooner. Luckily I am only 26 weeks so I still had time to change. I would for sure sit down and talk to them because it is really scary that they aren't even checking you esp when you are that far along!! I also think it is weird that they pass you around doctors, for me it was hard to see another doctor because they had to go through this whole process since they don't like switching prenatal care doctors!

lol! I just had my 36th week appointement today. I was really hoping they'd check how big she was but they didn't :( I can wait till next week though lol but if they don't I'ma make a rucus lol

:( Aww I'm so sorry to hear that! Next time you go in, make them check how dialated and effaced you are! What are they waiting for?! The baby to pop out? Geez lol
