I have not bought anything for our second child due in May. I feel really guilty, but we rally have no extra money and we have everything from our first (she is just 15 months old). I feel like I am already denying my new baby something.

my second is due in may....my daughter is only 6 1/2 months at the moment....i will need to buy things like clothes and another cot but im not rushing just yet...because my daughter is still so young alot of her stuff can be passed down to her brother or sister.... like the door bouncer, bouncer chair, bumbo, walker etc...
i know money can be tight when you already have a little one to look after, but you are not denying your new baby anything. it will have everything your daughter had...and most of all it will have love and care wich are by far more important then anything material.

I've worried myself to pieces over cribs, dressers, strollers, clothes and my husband gets so frustrated with me. He says as long as we take good care of the baby, love him, and make sure he has his needs taken care of, the kid doesn't care if he's sleeping in a pink room with yellow elephants. We're what matters and all the fussing over the nursery is just not necessary. If the wood on the crib doesn't match the dresser, who cares? He's right and I hate admitting it. :-)

The best way I have found to get new things without paying a ton, is to get a group of friends that are also moms, and do a clothing exchange, that way everyone gets something new without breaking the wallet. I don't have much money, but am excited for my first coming in May 2010 and have done a "baby" exchange so I could get gently used and new baby things without spending too much. I got a crib, changing table, clothes, and bassinet without paying, just by exchanging things I already owned that others needed more than I did. GOOD LUCK!

Same here only my oldest is 8 and I am having another girl, but because I didn't think I was going to have anymore I gave all of my oldest duaghters stuff away, so I don't have anything right now and with christmas right here I have really been focusing on that, but I hope I don't wait to late to get things I am due in march.

That's silly! Your baby isn't going to sit up in his crib and say "hey this isn't new so I must not be Special and loved"! As long as you have what he needs you shouldn't feel bad at all! All he needs is to be loved, babies don't want material things. If it makes you feel better go out and buy him a new outfit! Good Luck!

well i am on the same page as u except this is my first and he is prone to be here soon. really it is cause of financial problems... but it's good you still have things from your fist child so you shouldn't worry as much

Well, If you feel bad, then you'll think horrible of me. I am expecting my 2nd child at the end of Feb 2010 and we don't have anything saved from our first child and he is 8. We haven't bought anything yet either. We just can't seem to scrape up any extra money to buy anything yet. :(

Same here! Although I don't plan on buying anything. I am due in June, and have an 18 month old son. Our son will be out of the crib and into a regular bed by the time I deliver, if we know if were having a boy we'll get bunk beds. Other than that since we have everything there's no need to buy more! The babies won't really care what they have as long as there taken care of.

If we have a girl, then we may buy a nice dress to put her in for pics at the hospital, and for the baptism, but my sister in law just had a girl and said if we have a girl she'll give us a some of her daughters stuff as she won't need the clothing anymore).

To be honest, with our first we really only bought 1 or 2 outfits, 2 pairs of shews, the crib and a stroller. We got everything else from friends and family either as baby gifts or Christmas gifts. A lot of the clothing our son wears is from rummage sales too.

Anyway, don't worry if you don't need to buy anything for the second time around, that's whats so nice about having them so close together :)
