Stop sleeping on your sides...i know it sounds crazy but i had really bad hip pain through my first pregnancy and i didn't know what caused it and could get no relief. I'd wake up so sore and cry. Now im pregnant again and i have found by not sleeping on my right (cos its mostly my right hip) then it is ok. Nobody else has ever recommended this to me and i found out myself so hopefully it works for others too.

Dont feel bad,I'm 19 weeks pregnant and my pain has got so bad I cant do much.If I walk or do anything its severe pain.I have tried the whole tylenol and it dont even touch my pain.I have also tried the whole warm bath and shower thing too. That didnt help much either..I do the pillow between my legs tho.My ob told me it was ligament pain and with this being my third its only going to get alot worse...**Good Luck**

the pains ur feeling could be caused by hormones kicking in causing all ur muscles and ligaments relax preparing for birth. im going through same thing as i am 27 weeks. i asked my mid wife about my pain and that is what she told me. her advice was to just try a warm heat pack and lots of pillows.

I'm currently 27 weeks and 3 days pregnant with my first and I mainly get lower back pains and hip ache during the night. I've tried to sleep on my back, front, sides and even tried a pillow underneath me and in between my legs and nothing is helping! I do try to keep my posture straight during the day and I do keep active as I'm a supervisor in a nursery, so I've got no choice to be active when I'm looking after 30 children a day :) I'm just wondering if anyone has any other tips on what to try for night times? I wake up around five times and that's not including all the toilet trips either! :)

i had the same exact thing almost my whole pregnancy, i would get out of bed and nearly fall over because it hurt so bad. im now 38 weeks and cant wait for this to be over with! what worked wonders for me was sleeping ontop of a big body pillow. i have a ton of pillows that surround me and support me all over! but the most relief i got was from sleeping directly on one. feels weird and a lil uncomfortable at first but it totally helped me! heat helps too. i hope you feel better! i know exactly what you are goin through!!!! hang in there!!

Hot bath before bed and lots of pillows...hot bath in the morning when you get up. I have been enduring hip and lower back pain for most of my pregnancy and that's how I have found some comfort.

I have the same pain and it is so intense most of the time, I hate walking. I would of loved to excerised more in this pregnancy (it being my second) but unfortunatly with this pain I could not. I think the most relief I got was talking hot showers and having my fiancee take my leg and press it in towards my stomach in the early stages. I am now two weeks away from my c-section and so happy its almost over so, I can finally find out what is causing the pain.

It could very well be sciatica. It has to do with the sciatic nerve, I've been having trouble with pains on the right side of my butt, my upper thigh, & my hips. Unfortunately there isn't anything that the doctors can do for it...Use a body pillow - that helps some. Take nice hot baths, they will also help. Use a heating pad if you have one, if not get one...they are only about 16.00 at walmart. It will come & go throughout your pregnancy. I can't stand it....but I'm working through it. I hope things get better for you hun, I hope this helps & best of luck to you!

I had hip pain early in the pregnancy, too. Heat seemed to help, so when it started hurting I just slept with a warm rice bag on my hip and that made a huge difference for me. If you don't have a rice bag or something similar, I would suggest that you go ahead and get one - there are plenty more aches and pains to come, and mine has made life so much easier these past 30 weeks!!

My ob told me to sleep on the couch or the floor, sounds crazy but if your bed is to soft once you get bigger its going to really start to be uncomfortable. The softness of the bed will pull at the weight of your uterus and put the pressure else where. Other than that I can only suggest lots of pillows, behind your back, between your legs, and a wedge for your tummy as it grows.

This is just the beginning :( Try a pillow between your legs, and once your belly gets bigger, you could also try putting a pillow underneath it. I'm 36 weeks pregnant and I still get back and hip pains at night. Not much I can do about the hip pain though :( Try not to sleep on your back, because later on you won't be able to. It's best to start to get into the habit now instead of later :)

Take a warm bath before going to sleep, put a pillow under your hips and take tylenol pm.
