the other day we were canoeing and I laid back across the cooler just relaxing. when I tried to raise up, it felt like my hips were moving. almost like they are out of place. it doesn't hurt. just kinda uncomfortable. does it feel like that because of relaxin?

Yes, very common and normal. It's actually how I knew I was preg with #2. I didn't even have a positive pee test but my hips were like "We remember what to do" and widened!!

when i sleep at night i cant lay on one side too long because it will hurt my hips really bad. and when i go to turn to the other side my hips will pop. i was just thinking they are doing this because they are moving out so there is more room for baby

Laura, I know what you mean about popping your hips. It helps for a little bit but not very long after it hurts the same as before or worse. lol.

Investment in a body pillow sounds great. : ) I tell my fiance he makes a greaat body pillow! hahaha!!

I have had the same problem w/ both pregnancies. Try the body pillow, that really helps! And also you can see a chiropractor. I know people always freak out when I suggest it, but having worked for one for many years i highly recomend (sp) it. Also try some stretching exercises, and take it easy when you can!

ya the hip pain started for me around 16 weeks also ( this is my first pregnancy) now i am about 38 weeks and the pain has never stopped sometimes it will hurt less but other times it is so bad i can barely walk, i was small before 5'4 and 112 lbs and apparently had no hips lol! anyways i ended buying a body pillow which i sleep with and it does help somewhat relieve the pressure at night it still hurts but not as bad as it can also another thing for me is i hate feeling that displacement so i pop my hips which makes it feel great for like 10 seconds and then i sit down or move and it makes the next 3 days feel worse so when you get to that point i recommend not doing that. lol! hope this helps and good luck!

As long as I'm not the only one. that makes me feel more at ease about it. I figured that's all it was but wanted to make sure. I've felt it for several weeks (16 weeks along). I bet it'll get more painful once the baby get's a lot bigger though. Thanks! :)

I wouldn't call it relaxing. Its actually caused by displacement so the baby has room to come through the birth canal. Its normal (Although painful!!) I hope you can control it, As for me, My dr. prescribed me Muscle relaxers to help, and they do work, however, I only take them at night when I have problems going to sleep! Good Luck!!
