My hips hurt constantly, they crack or pop every time I change positions. I don't want to take medication because it only last for about an hour and then I need more. I am 36 weeks and 1 day pregnant, I am also 3 cm at 50%. I try a pillow between my knees and it doesn't work. The only way I am comfortable is lying flat on my back and the doctors said not to do that because the baby wont get as much blood flow as needed.

Rub A535 helps for a quick fix. Only for like 20 minutes, but its a nice 20 minutes.

My right hip actually began popping in & out of socket at about 22 weeks with this pregnancy. I cannot stand to sleep on my side b/c it makes my hip worse. My OB told me that I could sleep on my back as long as I elevated my head good so that I wasn't completely flat on my back. It's the only way to relieve the pressure. I would try putting a heating pad on low under your hips & also getting a gentle massage. A pillow between my legs only made the hip pain unbearable for me.

Don't seperate your legs more than you need to...ie: getting in/out of car, keep knees together, going up and down stairs one at a time (half-step)...research pubic symphasis dysfunction...

im only 32 weeks but i have unbelievable pains in my lower back..hips and legs...i cant even lift my legs to get into or out of bed right now.....and like you the only way i am comfy is laying flat on my back....my dr said that i shouldnt but if it is the only way put pillows all the way down one side so your just rotated slightly and just alternate....thats how i have managed to sleep....and i only wake every 3-4 hours and have to change sides but it really doesnt bother me because i am sleeping better than i was

Quoting Brandy:

I have been the same way with both pregnancies and stretching definately helps. Also, hot packs and gentle massage. If you're already at 50% then baby is already resting pretty far into your pelvis so all of your muscles and ligaments around your hips and pelvis are being stretched all day long. Try not to over do it and try some gentle stretches to ease up all the tension in your muscles.

I agree with the gentle massage, I had my boyfriend give me one every day when we relaxed on the couch. It helped alot. Also a very warm shower massage works too :)

I had this problem with my daughter it got to the point that my husband had to fling my legs over the bed at night when i had to pee. I was in pain and whatever my dr was doing did not help. Now that I am prego again I told my new dr what had happened and she said that I need to do prego physical therapy for my hips when they start hurting its your muscles and joints. So I would ask your dr. It also helped me to lay on my side with lots of pillows between my legs
