I am due in April and when I was at my last appointment, the nurse seemed like she was going to pass out when she saw my weight. I had gained 19 lbs by 24 weeks, which I didnt think was that bad!! Some of my friends said they gained over 50-60 lbs during the entire pregnancy!

I gained 95lbs my first pregnancy that was only because I was was very extremly underweight and very sick. I didn't eat all the time or even too much just balloned up! My second pregnancy I am 34 weeks and 5 days and I have gained 28lbs so far my doctor said a healthy range for me would be 28lbs and 40 for my height and me pre pregnancy weight.

Well, maybe you've been giving in to your cravings. You can follow a healthy eating regimen and get back on track. Yes, some people gain 50, 60 or even more during their pregnancies, but they never had a 50, 60 or more pound baby. Then they had to work at getting that weight off. You can modify your eating to healthy and maybe you will stop gaining at such a pace.

I think it mostly depends on your body type. I only gained 20 with my first pregnancy and I am a small girl, and am 22 weeks into my second pregnancy and have actually lost 7 pounds. The recommended weight gain for an Average Sized woman is between 25-30 pounds. 35-45 for twins I think. Just listen to your OB, don't worry about the nurses or anyone else. As long as you are healthy, baby is healthy etc. that is what truly matters. Make sure you are eating the right foods at least 80% of the time, don't be afraid to indulge a little but not overdone of course.

I am due September 2nd I am on my second pregnancy and I have gained 25lbs at 31 weeks and 4 days. I had gained a lot my first pregnancy 95lbs cause I was very sick was getting over an illness and was already very very underweight weight when I found out so I am happy about 25lbs. I was told with how small I am now I can gain up to 40lbs and would still be healthy really hope I don't though.

I gained about 40-45 pounds through out my entire pregnancy. By the time my daughter was 7 months I had lost it, although it wasn't easy (I was breastfeeding and working out for and hour and a half, three times a week).

Next time around I'm going to *try* not to gain so much. The first time around I was a college student and hardly eating at all and was REALLY skinny. And then when I was pregnant I was just like "Whoah, I need to stop skipping meals to save money" and so I tended to eat ANY chance I got just because I was thinking "Better to give my baby food instead of risking eating too little and depriving her! I can lose it later!" I think next time I'll try to make my extra calories more fruits and vegetables and fresh food! It was also hard for me because I was used to getting my protein from fish and sushi, and you can't eat that when you're pregnant so I ate more red meat.

I've been told that it's normal to gain 30 pounds in pregnancy for an average sized baby with all the blood, fluid, placenta, etc. you gain. The less you weigh prior to pregnancy, the more you tend to gain. I gained 28 pounds my first pregnancy. Im 36 weeks now and have gained 16 pounds, but I also started off 9 pounds heavier with this pregnancy. My cousin gain 75 pounds and lost all of it in one month. Breastfeeding rocks! You can't and shouldn't diet while pregnant. Just don't over indulge in the idea that you get a free pass while pregnant and you are fine (If you don't eat a half gallon of ice cream prior to pregnancy...don't start now! lol). You never know. It could be mostly water weight. I gained 10 pounds in the last week of my pregnancy and lost all but 6 pounds of the 29 pounds exactly 1 week after delivery.

with my first pregnancy I gained about 50 lbs and had a horrible struggle to loose it all! This pregnancy I am 20 weeks right now and have gained 7 lbs. Generally your ob says an ideal weight gain, mine is set at between 15-25 pounds, if your dr doesnt seemed concerned then I wouldnt really worry but if you think its a concern talk to your ob!

I am 24wks and 5 days and I have lost 5 lbs overall. It all really depends on your prepreganancy weight on when and if they start to stress you. I have started out heavy with each preganancy so the fact that I only gain about 10-20 lbs during the whole time is all good. Each person is different. My hubby's aunt actually gained 60 by the end of her only pregnancy! Don't feel bad, you can always work it off later. :-)

I am 31 weeks tomorrow and I have gained almost 30 lbs. I gained about 25 at my 28 week appointment and I'm almost positive I have put on 5 more lbs. I look and feel great though! My goal is to keep the total weight gain under 40 lbs and I think I will be alright.

I am due June 30 ( about 20 wks) I have gained about 6lbs and this is my 4th pregnancy. When I was pregnant with my first pregnancy I gained about 4-5 lbs my entire pregnancy, but with my second I gained like 25lbs. I believe everyone is different and every circumstance is as well. best thing we can do is just try to follow drs orders.

Stop focusing on weight. It's the nutrition you're giving your baby that's important. If you are planning on nursing, the weight will come off easily after baby. it's an arbitrary number that doesn't mean much, anyway.

Vanity, fear drive those thoughts. Not realistic self-care, which is baby-care since you are symbiotic. 19lbs at 24 weeks is nothing. The average woman gains 35 - 40 in 38 weeks. If you're stuck on numbers, just do the math. You're fine.

I am 29 weeks. Due April 23rd. I weighed 155lbs when I got pregnant and now weigh 174. So, I have gained 19lbs so far. I wouldn't worry about it at all. Every woman, every pregnancy is different.

I'm 28 weeks / 7 months and I've gained 35 pounds, I wasn't tiny to start with but not fat either just slim but out of shape haha and I don't look fat, my arms and my thighs are a bit bigger and my boobs are HUGE but I don't feel fat and I certainly don't look like I weigh 186 pounds but I do lol. I was concerned at my last checkup that I was only 6 months and had gained 26 pounds but my doctor said it was fine, my blood pressure isn't high and it's not a terrible amount of weight for my height (I'm 5'7) he said it was perfectly fine so I'm really not concerned, don't let nurses scare you a lot of them are very rude and don't low what they're talking about anyway!
