I am suffering from IBS and iron is like swallowing a cork for me very harsh on my stomach when taken daily. Can anyone twll me the best brand of prenatal vitimins for me so I know what to ask my dr for?

I took Pregnacare but I do think it contains iron. To be honest I can't be much help here, but remember that Folic Acid is probably the most important vitamin you can take with regard to pregnancy. The recommendation is to start 3 months before trying to get pregnant, and continue up until at least the end of the 1st trimester. Don't worry if you've not taken it yet - it will still do you a lot of good if you start now. If you have a very healthy diet you probably won't be lacking in many vitamins anyway, but as you are seeing your doctor anyway a chat with them should make sure you're eating the right stuff. Look at different children's vitamins. That's what I'm having to do since my iron is always high anyways, and regular prenatals also make me sick. So far I've found a knockoff of Flintstones vitamins that has no iron. My doctor has approved them for me, and I also take an additional Folic acid supplement. As long as you are doing well, it doesn't matter that you are taking a "pre-natal" vit.

I have a problem taking most tablets unless they are very small. I have a problem with my iron levels so i take liquid iron. Really does not have a nice taste but does the job much better than the tablet form for me.

Im sure their are many different kinds of vitimins you can take. and im sure if you look around you may find many natural things that you can take.. I myself didnt take any Prenatal Vitimins, I took Juice Plus.. and I did great, I was taking them before I got preg. and showed them to my DR when I found out I was having my little girl. He looked into them a tiny bit and said I could just keep taking them. They do have a web site www.juiceplus.com .. and you can look into them if you like. but you have to pay out of pocket, as you have to buy them on your own..
Not to sure if that helped.. But thats what I took.
