im rh negative and just recently my mother made me get an abortion what are the chances of my next pregnancy being ok?..I been reading all this information on my blood type and it scares me that there is a possibility something could go wrong next time.

I have O- blood and I have 6 children i just had to have the Rogam shot and nothing is wrong with any of my children

IM SORRY YOU WERE FORCED TO HAVE A ABORTION BUT AFTER THE ABORTION THEY SHOULD OF GAVEN YOU A RHOGAM SHOT ITS TOO STOP ANTBODIES FROM FORMING I DIDNT GET THE SHOT AFTER MY THRID BABY BECAUSE I DIDNT WANT ANYMORE KIDS BUT THE DOCTOR SAID IM FINE BECAUSE MY BODY HAS NO ANTIBODIES WASNT A VERRY SMART THING TO DO I FELT WEAK ALL THE TIME I REALLY FEEL THAT SHOT REGULATES YOUR BLOOD . IM ON MY FORTH BABY AND I CRAMP ALOT IM STILL SCARED AT TIMES UT GOD HOLDS EVERYTHING GOD BLESS YOU

Your next pregnancy will be fine. I also have a negative RH factor. You get a shot of Rhogam at 2 to 3 points in your pregnancy including the delivery. I have a healthy 2 year old son. I also had to have a DNC because I had a miscarriage 7 months after my son was born. Everything went fine. I am now 11 weeks pregnant and everything is looking great. A rhogam shot can go either in your arm or thigh. some even get in the butt. However, it is nothing to worry about.

Do you know the blood-type of the aborted child? If it is negative too then it would not matter. However, if it was positive, I believe your next pregnancy would be at risk. You should get a Rhogam shot now to prevent miscarriage or complications in the future. I have never had an abortion, but I did have a miscarriage and the doctor told me I needed a Rhogam shot after I finished bleeding.

At the end of the day getting really depends on weather your partner has a + or - blood type, if you can find that out it may pug your mind to rest. Even if your partner was a + it's not the end of the world yes the risk does increase with each pregnancy but chances are because you had an abortion the baby's blood didn't even come into contact with your own. With your next pregnancy your doctor/ nurse will give you at least 3 shots of "anti D" through out your pregnancy, maybe more if you have any bleeding. Anti D is always given with the second pregnancy, try not too stress too much plenty of women have been known to have 5+ healthy baby's without even having the anti D shots. Talk to your doctor the next time you see him/her. Coming from a woman who has 0- blood group and pregnant with second child
