I have been experiencing lots of pain and pressure in my groin area for a few days now, my doctor says its normal, however everybody else thinks it isnt. I am already 2 centimeters dialated and thats why I am worried. One friend said thats how her labor started out, I was wondering what eveyone else thought? Please help:)

My pelvic muscles have been paining as well, its so sore to stand up walk and sometimes just sitting in general, i feel like everything is going to just fall out 'down there' and have been super practising my pelvic floors, I'm booked in to the dr's agn tomorrow but am only 33weeks so am not expecting anything too dramatic other than the usual, relaxing muscle hormones, baby sitting low in position and all the things girls have mentioned previously. This is baby two so I know its not uncommon to feel this intence muscle ache but it still dosent eliviate the fact that its there!!!

What the pressure is can be a few things but usually it is what you feel when the baby is settling into position for birth this can happen as far out as three weeks from labor. With my first I had tis problem after I lost my mucous plug. It was still about a week until I started having contractions and they induces me five days after that.

It is normal.. At 38 weeks I was checked to see how dialated I was and I was at 2 cm, later in the day I had my baby... Its just the baby moving into your birth canal!! Good luckk with everything.

I'm guessing you are asking me how far long I am? When I was telling the nurse about the pain, I was 35 weeks. When I went back to the doctor Thursday, I turned 36 weeks the day before. I told the nurse that the pain was more constant and he checked me again and I am between 2.5 and 3 cm's. I'm sure it's probably just a combination of dilating and everything getting ready down there for birth.

the baby is moving down the birth canal, it is normal you will be fine, it will make the baby come down more and you will dialate.

Thanks Elina, I went to the dr and he told me the same thing your doctor told you. I never had these pains when I was pregnant with my first. It is an awful feeling, sometimes it even hurts to walk, lol

OMG i have been having pain in my groin area for weeks. My doc says it is just my bodys way of getting ready for the baby...your baby may have dropped and so now your pelvis is opening up and getting ready for the baby to come out...it just means you are getting ready...if you are super concerned then definitely go in or call your doc!

Is the pain in your groin moving to the inner part of your legs too and maybe to your lower back?
That is the pain I was feeling yesterday. Is because the muscles in your pelvic area strechs a little and the bones separates to make room for the baby.

I was complaining to my doctor's nurse last week about having pain in my groin. She told me if I wanted my doctor to check me, it would be fine and that I was probably dilating. Sure enough. I was dilated to 2 cm's. He told me that pain in the groin can just be from the baby but it can also be caused by the cervix dilating. After checking me he said the pain was more than likely from me starting to dilate. I'm hoping he checks me Thursday because the pain has gotten more constant than before. Hopefully, we're making progress!

I was unfortunate enough to be induced so I didn't get the early signs of labour however I didn't get all the contractions for 19hrs. I would definitely be getting a second opinion just to be sure. Don't be fooled, sometimes the dr's do get it wrong. With my first they didn't beleive me that my waters had broken but I made them check I was 5cm.
