Your body tells you that it is hungry or thirsty in the same way, so before you assume you are hungry it is wise to make sure you are not craving water or getting dehydrated. Your body needs tons of water daily during pregnancy, you can't drink enough water actually, I tried. So just keep in mind that you might be thirsty and maybe it will help a little bit, but I was also very hungery during different stages of my pregnancies, so just make sure you are eating nutritious foods to fule you and the baby along with water or other healthy beverages :)

I'm in my 5th week of pregnancy and I am sooooooo hungry. I snack on healthy snacks but nothing seems to work. I don't remember this at all from my first pregnancy but then again that was almost 10 years ago. I just want to find something that will help me out a.s.a.p. I want to be as healthy as possible.

With my last pregnancy I was starving ever 2hr, my stomach was completely empty. At our first ultrasound we found out it was twins. That's why I was so hungry! lol

id rather constantly be feeling hungry than constantly not feeling hungry im 38 weeks and 2-3 days and in the beginning i had very bad morning sickness so it turned me off food made me scared of eating just incase i threw up everytime i went out had make sure there was a toilet close by or i had a plastic bag with me, and the sickness only stopped at about 30-31 weeks but had calmed down at bout 28 weeks and only now im starting to eat alot more, hope all goes well with your pregnancy

My biggest clue that something was up was getting winded climbing 3 flights of stairs at work. I was never winded before, so, between that and my boobs getting ginormous, I had a feeling...

Have you tried Preggy Pops or ginger slices? They can help nausea immensely...

I found out at 4 weeks that I was preggers and the hunger kicked in almost immediately! Luckily, I mostly craved fruits and veggies and sweets didn't appeal to me at all. I did, however, discover jalapeno stuffed green olives and promptly became addicted! Then there was the adding of the jalapenos to just about everything I ate!! I've since leveled out a bit. I still get hungry and I eat until I'm satisfied, but I don't find myself grazing through my waking hours. Luckily, I had zero morning sickness and no food aversions except for the desserts.

Hi there, I was the same at 4/5 weeks! I am only 7 weeks now and I am currently battling feeling sick ALL day. Even though I feel sick constantly (as yet I haven't thrown up) I still want to eat all the time. It feels really weird...If you do eat alot, I'd suggest to try and eat healthily - you don't want to be fat before you start showing : ) This is my 3rd pregnancy and I never had these feelings with my 2 girls so maybe this is a boy (fingers crossed). my apatite was raging then to, eat through out the day, just make sure they are all good foods! You dont want to go binging out on anything unhealthy, give yourself the great nutrients to grow the miracle inside you!

My advice to you: try to curb it now, eat more healthy food and set a schedule for yourself because once you hit the 2nd and 3rd trimester, you'll be eating and craving food A LOT more. When I hit the 3rd trimester, I was gaining 3-5 lbs a week!!! My midwives said that all the food and the freaking 15lbs gained in the first four months of the pregnancy were unnecessary because the baby was not a *baby* yet-- if that makes sense.

Also, a fact: when you eat bigger meals and junk food, your body wants it more and more. I definitely learned my lesson so when I am pregnant again, HOPEFULLY, I'll be wiser ;)

at four weeks, there is actually quite a lot going on. Cells dividing rapidly, getting ready to start forming the baby. That actually burns a lot of energy, so yes it can make you hungry.

You know, after my fist child, (I gained 35lbs preg) I lost the 35lbs and then lost 46more, on Weight Watchers... I was soo happy.. well now that i am pregnant, I can't even eat like I want to with weight watchers, only because I would have to cook so much at home, because my body is demanding so much more of me.. trust me I tried..

I'll eat wheat crackers and low fat string cheese, drink water and eat a few carrots, and It feels like I did Nothing! I end up going to KFC to get the job done!

YES! I am sitting here now scarffing down spaghetti like it's dinner after work or something.. I had a fish dinner earlier, and the only way I won't be eating another full meal in 2.5hrs is if I go to sleep like now!

I was never this hungry with my first baby!! Preg with second child.

I don't know if I'm pregnant but it seems like i can't get filled up, I've been having the signs of being pregnant :back aches, cramping in my lower stomach, spotting, dizzinesss and headaches, I've been having unprotected sex and we don't use the pull out method I've been off the pill for almost a month I hope I am pregnant I would like a little boy I already have a daughter she's five? could I be pregnant?

It's better then being constantly sick and not being able to eat. I found I was much more hungry in first trimester after morning sickness stop and was eating a lot mostly unhealthy foods. I think I am a lot less hungry in the 2nd trimester then I was in the first.

feeling hungry all the time is fine but when you do eat eat what is good for you not just junk because trust me you will put on more weight then what you want to and then its hard lose the weight so when eating eat smart

yes its normal with my first she was a total surprise but right before i found out i was pregnant i was waking up in the middle of the night to eat cuz i was sooo crazy hungry lol. but when 6 weeks came around morning sickness hit and never left till she was born so then i couldnt keep anything down lost 10lbs.

I ate a ton with my 1st pregnancy. After I finally stopped throwing up. I weighed 110lbs and the doc said I needed to gain more than normal. I gained almost 70 after it was said and done. I wish I would have tried to control my craving better or ate healthier if you can keep the weight less like the normal 35 or so then your chances of stretch marks are less. Me being so small so long belly shirts and bikinis and now after baby number 2 I look like a tiger in the hip area. They're great and I love food so it is worth it. But I guess everyone is different just follow what your body says you may be needing it. I craved steak at first but I think I was needing iron not really steak you know. Stay away from double fish sandwiches from rallys that's what's got me in trouble and then I ate 2 at a time and ate again 2 hours later or I felt sick to my stomach. Did I mention also my first is 7 and reagardless I throw up still every morning when I brush my teeth. Sucks. So bad

I'm 5 weeks pregnant with my second (just found out a few days ago, though I suspected) and I'm eating/drinking like crazy. With my first I had a rare pregnancy where you have symptoms within a few days of conception. First was 3 weeks of vomitting, then 3 weeks of ear infection, 3 weeks of eating us out of house & home then horrible nausea for 5-7weeks. This one is way different. Symptoms are all out of order compared to the first. Everyone is going to be different. Just try to eat healthy & take in plenty of water

My hunger changed quite early too, but as long as you are eating enough of the right things...One thing that I found with my first pregnancy is that if I was craving something and I waited and fought the craving then I would eat anything I could get my hands on until I got what I was craving. This time I have just been hungry a lot, but some days I am like eating everything in sight and others I am eating like I did before I was preggo

I have had 3 kids and honestly I think it is mostly mental. I mean, there is no reason to be so hungry, we really only need few hundred more calories a day when we are pregnant, our hormone changes can just make us get the munchies even though we don't need it...be careful! ;)

Oooh I bet you are having a boy! I found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks and the first sign I even had that I was pregnant was that I was eating SOOO MUCH!! Everything sounded good and I was hungry all the time and normally I am a light eater. Nothing filled me up and I could eat Taco Bell day and night. Sure enough- 3 pregnancy tests later I was right. We just found out we are having a boy- which I thought all along based on how hungry I was. They say boys will cause you to be hungry, while girls usually cause you to not want food. Good luck!!

everyone is different durning their pergnancy.. see when i was that far along i didnt wanna eat anything.. i had really bad nausea so all food made me sick but im 16 weeks n 4 days now and i eat everything i'll eat a full dinner then be hungry 10 mins later.. but then i have days were i dont wanna eat.. its all depending on ur body and how u feel.. everyone is different and it could change in the next few weeks.. Some days we will feel more hungry tthan other days. This is my 2nd baby and with this one and my first for the first 12weeks I couldn't eat much because everything smelt/tasted horrible but after that I couldn't stop eating lol I am not nearly 26weeks. Everythings normal as long as you are eating, good luck

oh! I drink plenty of water (about 3 jugs of 32oz.) daily!!! I read it is normal to be hungry at that stage due to hormone changes in your body, but you are absolutely right about being thirsty, many people (not only pregnant) confuse hunger with thirst. As of the weight this will be my 3rd pregnancy and with my other 2 I only gained 15 to 16 lbs and lost them on my first doctor's visit. The weight came LATER! oh God! I gained like 10 lbs. with my 1st after I stopped breastfeeding at 5 months. My friends told me it is normal to gain after stop breastfeeding, but 10 lbs????

I'm not sure that at 4 weeks you'd be feeling more hungry due to being pregnant. Perhaps your thirsty? Lots of people make this mistake and don't drink enough water. It's important to drink plenty of water, especially while pregnant. Don't do what I did in my first pregnancy and use it as an excuse to eat anything and everything. I had only just got the 25kg I put on, off, just in time to fall pregnant again. This time, though, I'm reading my body much better and not caving in to any and every tiny pang of what I last time tricked myself into thinking was hunger, but was really just gluttony! hehe

i craved the same thing through both my first and current pregnancy from the start which was salty fries and i could never get enough, you start to make yourself slow down a bit after a while though.

I'm 4 weeks pregnant and starving too! I'm constantly hungry!!! But I try to control myself and drink water instead. Oh also, I used to hate spinach dip and now I'm craving it soo bad and eating it and it taste delicious. Funny 'cause I hate it before I was pregnant!!!

the first 12weeks i found were my hungriest. i ate everything and anything. its perfectly normal. its to do with the hormonal changes in your body and because the placenta isnt doing all the work for the baby so it thrives off you at the most important part of its development. the hunger usually becomes less but enjoy foods that are good for you. its really easy. my first pregnancy i gained 33 kgs because i constantly ate. now im 24 weeks with my second and as ive been eating healthier foods for my cravings have only gained 7 kgs. good luck and its perfectly normal.

You know when I was pregnant with my boys I had morning sickness and nausea since day one and so I wasn't able to eat anything. But now I'm pregnant again and I was much like you the first few weeks, I ate a lot. I'm now a little over thirteen weeks and my hunger has fluxuated. So I think what you're feeling is normal and enjoy it because it might not last forever. Because you're so early in your pregnancy your eating habbits might change.

I'm constantly hungry this pregnancy. I feel hungry about every 2 hours. And I can definately tell if it's been over 2 hours because I start to feel very sick, very quickly. I agree about trying to eat smaller amounts more often, and about reaching for healther snacks, even though it's tough for me, I love ICE CREAM! lol

I am 9 weeks pregnant and have had horrible 24 hr a day morning sickness, nausea and dry heaving, since half through my fifth week. But, even when I do eat, I eat the amount I normally would, and like an hour later i'm starving again! I've joked with my husband about this being twins because food just seems to go through my system so quickly!

I was hungry throughout my entire 1st pregnancy, but this second one, I have only begun to become rediculously hungry. 1st pregnancy I gained more than 50 lbs bc I endulged on my cravings, try eating healthy if you're going to spurge. Stear clear of over-eating pasta, bread, ice cream, junk food, whatever your weakness and pick up an apple or fruit, not only will it keep you full longer, but also because losing is much less fun than gaining lol. So at LEAST for the first 5 months eat healthy if you do need to over eat, and when you hit 6 months, eat what you want babe, have fun!

I am 31 weeks 4 days pregnant and the one thing I have learned for sure with pregnancy is that nothing is normal. I have gone back and forth with hunger. At first it was not so much that I was really hungry, more I was craving things I normally do not eat. Feeling hungry all the time is reasonable, especially since eating comforts people and this could be a high stress time in your life.It will be OK just do not over indulge. Have many SMALL meals a day instead of adding snacks to your regular three large meals. Another words do not add to your consumption, change it. Each trimester it is OK to add 100 calories to your diet. I know it is easy to get carried away with eating at the beginning, especially when people are congratulating you taking you out to dinner, lunch etc...Do your waistline and baby a favor and do your best not to get caught up in it; you do not want to have to deal with something like gestational diabetes. But most important, keep your body moving, feed your body and enjoy your pregnancy! Do not let people and their silly input and comments get to you.
