Hi all!
I'm just wondering, with all the latest products in hair color, like free of ammonia, organic hair dye, etc... is it okay to color our hair during pregnancy. also are the effects of hair dye similar to hair treatment such as perming and straightening in the salon?

I have been coloring my hair, but it seems almost useless it took....for the most part but after a few days my husband was saying how it all just seemed to disappear, which really sucks because I have dirty blond hair and my dyed color is black argh so now I am just starting to look weird.....so unless you dye a lot it kind of sucks if the color doesn't take...

Ohhh good luck with that. Its safe, as long as there's vetilation like the others said, BUT if you're like any pregnant woman, most likely the color will either not take at all, or will come out totally not what you were expecting. I highlighted my hair blonde on brown hair. Not only did I have to leave the color in for three hours, I now look like a surfer chick who got a hold of too much salt water. I'm serious. I'd do it after you give birth. It'll work better.

I died my hair while i was prego. I don't see any harm in it just make sure your in a well ventilated area.

Hi mimi, My mother is a hair stylist, and it is perfectly fine to have your hair dyed while pregnant. Make sure if you are doing it yourself that you are in a well ventalated area, and you were the gloves and such. Hope that helps. -Alyssa
