I asked my midwife about my back pain because I started getting it at 18 weeks and I thought that was too early to be pregnancy related - wrong! It's VERY common to get it that soon. She suggested gentle stretching exercises and showed me a few in her office - you might want to ask your doc about it the next time you go. She also suggested using a heating pad and I'm surprised at how quickly that helps ease the pain. Best of luck!

I have been having back pains for a while and I am 22 weeks now. I am not sure exactly what factors play into it, but I was pretty small before getting pregnant and my doctor said that since I had always been skinny my back isn't as strong esp now with being front heavy and also that I am not gaining anywhere else except for my stomach and I am all frontal (growing straight out), so I guess it depends on how you are built and how you are growing as well.

Prenatal yoga helped with my back and sciatic pain. I am twelve weeks along with my second, and I already have back and sciatic pain. But I'm sure that is because my son is only one so my body didn't get a chance to heal completely. :)
Drink lots of water, and try to get up every hour to stretch if you can.

Exercises and stretches will help! My belly is 4.2 feet around, and I'm 32. I just started getting back pains a few weeks ago, and I've been doing some stretches and it works wonders!
