mucus plug? or just blood?

ok thankyou guys so much i have a doc appt. tommorow so i think i will just wait and ask him than i have been having contractions everyday and night but for me thats normal they do seem like they are getting a lot stronger though. they dont hurt and i can still talk which the nurses told me thats when to come in cause than it's serious even though i have had contractions 2 to 3 min. apart anyways thankyou for all of the advice.

It really does sound like you lost your plug . The brownish blood just sounds like older blood from the plug.

With my 2 oldest boys my water broke early and prior to any notice of losing my plug. When I was pregnant with my daughter I woke one morning at 3 days past due to some brownish blood I was really concerned when it became bright red a short time later and was afraid my placenta was detaching so rushed to the hospital . I wasn't really having contractions and since my bags were not broke was really worried.
When we got to labor and delivery to be checked out I was 9 cm dialated , which accounted for the brighter red blood. I was told the first blood you may see can be brownish and then as labor progresses become more red.
It is always best to call the dr to double check and when in doubt go to the hospital to be examined just to make sure.

It does sound like your Mucus Plug and maybe a little bit of blood. When I was pregnant with my first son, I lost my Mucus Plug at 7 months. But, since you are about 38 weeks, it sounds a little more normal for you to lose it. I would call your doc and try your best to explain what's going on. They may have you go to the hospital so they can break your water if it has not broken yet. Congradulations and good luck. Welcome to motherhood.

The blood can be brown, and usually it's not of any concern. It usually means the blood is older and it's not fresh bleeding.
But if you are progressively bleeding and the brown is turning into a bright red, then you should contact your doctor as soon as possible.

thankyou, but do you think it could be my mucus plug even though the blood coming out is not red or pink? it has only been brown

it sounds like it could be your Mucus Plug coming out.
I've heard that it doesn't have to come out as one big.. glob, lol, but it can be bits and pieces of well.
Often there will be a bit of blood as well, which is part of the mucus plug or Show.

Just keep an eye on your body and how you're feeling :)
If you think it's something you need to see your doc about, especially if you start getting more contractions, then that's probably what I would do to be safe :)
