i attempt to take my vitamins everyday but i always throw them up. my doctor switch me to different ones but they still don't help. he told me i should be just fine and i do not agree. im 32weeks pregnant and i had an ultrasound last week and they told me my son weighs 3 pounds 10oz. they said he is developing fine and in good health. my concern is him being born underweight cause i cant hold my pills down. should i worry or not?

I can't take the prenatal vitamins either and I couldn't with my my first child either I just took the folic acid and my son was 9lbs 3oz. I don't think that it is really anything to worry about unless the doctor finds something unusual with the ultrasounds or blood work.

I had the same problem when i was pregnant with my youngest i was 92.5 when i got pregnant w her and only gained 7 lbs with her bc i couldnt keep anything down so i was afraid shebwas gonna have to stay in the hospital and the dr told me the day before i went in to have her that she was gonna barely be 5 lbs... well she came out weighing 7 lbs 8.5 oz and was 19 inches long... ur baby will get the vitamins and nutrients from ur body if it needs... alot of people dont realize how much a baby takes so much out of ur body...

Mine made me throw up all the time! My doctor said to take the flinstone vitamines. When I went to the store I found Princess Gummi vitamins that have everything including the DHA, that the prenatals have. I cleared it with my doc, and they work great!

I had a problem taking the prenatals that included the DHA with it. I did much better with cheap walmart brands. Just a thought not sure which ones your taking.

I was having the same problem and a family member told me to take them every second day so i talked to my doctor about it and he said that it was a good idea to try where as i needed the vitamins to stay in my system so talk to your doctor about that and see what he recomends for you and i wouldnt worry unless the nurses and/or your doctor tell you that the baby is going to have problems.. best of luck

I HEARD YOU COULD TRY TAKING THEM BEFORE BED BUT THAT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME SO MY DOC TOLD ME 2 FLINSTONES WERE JUST AS GOOD.

I would throw up my prenatal vitamins right after I took them, my doctor suggested that I stop taking those and start taking Flintstones Chewable Gummies. I havent thrown up since and you get the same needs from those just as you would from the prenatal vitamins!

I knew a mum once that crushed hers and stirred it into her food.

I wouldnt worry too much. It took me a while to find one that didn't make me nauseas. The best thing to do eat a sandwich or something right before you take it, and something right after to make it so your stomach isn't empty while you digest the pill. The best kind of prenatal for uneasy stomaches would be "Gesticare" or "Expecta"
Hope you find one that works.

A friend of mine told me that the flintstone vitamins are a good alternative, (believe it or not) because she cannot take the prenatal vitamins either.

That happened to my friend. Her doctor told her to take 2 kids' vitamins a day...the chewable kind, and that's the only thing that helped her.

Take them before you go to bed, instead of in the morning. That is the only way I can keep them down.

i would let ur dr know but i was the same way. my dr actually told me to take 1 Flintstones vitamin a day along w/ a folic acid supplement and if u need to take vitamin B6, 35mg a day will help w nausea as well. :-) hope that helps!

Dont worry, the baby will take any vitamins that it needs from your food. 3lbs 10oz already is a really good healthy weight, so dont worry hun, you're baby is doing just fine. The only thing that usually happens with this is that YOU may feel tired, because the baby will take the vits and leave you without! I cant keep them down either, so try not to worry. If you feel tired, eat things with extra iron in them i.e. spinach etc.

have you tried taking them at night before you go to bed? thats what i have to do, cuz mine make my stomach uber upset. i take them at night, and then go to sleep, so the nasuea doesnt bother me as badly.

I take them right before bed too! They don't bug me in the least that way, but in the beginning I took them right after breakfast and used to vomit 10 minutes later! Before bed is easiest!

I have taken 2 flinstones a day plus a folic acid with this pregnancy and with my first son. When my two year old was born he was 8lbs 8.6 oz and is still a healthy, strong, and growing boy! With this pregnancy I was sick for the first 4.5 months and found the time of day where I felt best and took my pills then.

I had a problem with mine at first too. I found that if I drank a small glass of skim milk and took my prenatals with that and right before bed, they go down easier and I don;t have as much of an issue keeping them down.

I couldn't take mine either and every time I try I feel awful. I've stopped taking them and both baby and I are doing fine. I asked my husband's niece about it and she said she couldn't stand them either so she didn't take them. She has two very healthy and active children.

I had the same problem, my doc told me to take 2 Flintstone Gummy vitamins a day but those still made me sick. He finally prescribed me some called Prima Care One, they have a gel like coating & taste and smell like vanilla. I was able to hold those down if I took them later in the day (like after lunch or supper). Make sure your stomach is full. If that doesn't work try drinking Boost or Ensure shakes.

I dont think you have anything to worry about. i have acid reflex and all the Iron from the prenatal vitamins also made me sick, I haven't taken them since I was two months pregnant. But if your really concerned my doctor told me to try cutting them in half. I never did but it's worth a try.

I have a friend that couldn't take hers either so her doctor had her take the childrens chewables. I also work in a pharmacy and see that often.

Those prenatals are nasty. I found that children's chewables have the same ingredients and if you take 2 you get the same amounts and extra folic acid. My Ob told me that it's a good trade off and he's happy that I've found a way to keep what I need down.

I had morning sickness for the first 5 months and anything i tried to eat or drink would came up straight away and my doctor said if you cant keep them down, dont stress or make yourself take them, ill just keep yourself sick. i didnt end up taking any prenatal vitamins and i had an ultrasounds at 35 weeks and bubz was already 6 1/2 pounds.
I'm now 38 weeks and i had another check up and baby is doing great and i never took them, I wouldnt worry to much about it and plus your pregnancy is almost finished as well.Good luck with everything
