i go in for my c-section in just over 4 weeks and i am wanting to pack my hospital bag so it is ready to go, but for the life of me i can't think of what to pack. which is kinda funny becuase i already have 2 kids and had no problem with packing my bag then. can't think of what I'll need for myself and i know i am forgetting things when it comes to the babies bag.

well I was just in the hospital for PTL and about to head back there. Here is what I had and wish I had...that I can remember

pj's (was in gown almost entire time but just in case)
cell phone charger
extra undies
glasses, glass case, contact solution
snacks since they can't give you anything until it's approved
bottle water (same reason)
cash for valet parking and vending machines
earbuds to listen to music on blackberry

Wish had:
book to read
working laptop (my screen died so borrowed friends on last day)
slippers - dirty floors where nasty barefoot
any book games

Just put in for next trip:
breastpads since just started leaking at 32wks
list of "to notify" for when needed
journel - keeping all hospital bands in and then her prints

Other items (we are 32wks so NICU time is guaranteed if comes soon)
one preemie just in case allowed in NICU and photos
receiving blanket for her just for photos
breastpump and accessories for NICU
pads in case i hate the hospital ones
ALOE toilet paper!!!! (friends stressed this one even if a c/s)

My friend and I are photographers so our DSLR's are always in tow. Make sure not to forget your camera and camcorder if you have one.

I like the TP idea !!!!
Lotion is a good idea too. With all of my kids I ended up dry and itchy from the linens/gowns . Also chap stick .
We bought the shelf stable microwave dinners to take with us. Also some snacks and oatmeal packets. I have breastfed all of my children and seemed famished with my new found room in my stomach. Also seemed with out fail every time the minute a tray would come, that would be the time nurses decided to come check me or baby out and a couple times I lost my tray to an eager cleaner collecting them.
Don't forget a comfy bra, a nursing one if you are planning to breastfeed.
I also plan this time around to pack tums . Everything even OTC has to be approved by your dr before they will order it for you. I had indigestion something fierce and it took some time to get anything for it.
Don't forget any meds you take regularly, and if possible write down all your meds on a piece of paper before hand with dosage so when they ask what all prescription RX you are taking you can tell them.
Hair brush and if long enough some hair bands . I forgot this my first time around.
DON'T forget your cell phone charger!!!!

big items for me are the camera and my nintendo ds. LOL. clothes for the baby and myself to come home in, toiletries (bought some travel sized soap, shampoo, and conditioner so i'm ready), diapers, wipes, reading material (you never know how long you'll be there), hat for the babe, 3 or 4 receiving blankets, extra undies in case my pads leak, socks for walking around in, extra pillow....

fortunately if i forget anything i can get my fiance to bring it. we only live 8 blocks from the hospital.

Oh and if your doing a baby book you can get the nurse to put the foot print in it while she is doing it anyways.

yea i'm going to need a few things to myself occupied. after the c-section i am in the hospital for at least 3 days. and that's not counting the day i get there becuase i don't have a scheduled time for the c-section just the day is a certain time.

thanks yea i am going to take snacks but unfortunately for me becuase it is a c-section i can't eat anything after midnight before i go in and then after the c-section i am on a liquid diet for 24 hours after. it really sucks becuase I'm starving by the time i get to eat. thanks for the suggestions let me know if you have anymore.

ok what we have packed are snacks, money for the vending machine, an outfit for size preemie, nb, and 0-3, just in case she is small or big, which she probably will be small, a ziploc full of diapers like 3 or 4 of each size preemie, nb and size1, some travel wipes, even though it's summer time a hat, receiving blanket, a pacifier just in case, and than i have breastpads just in case of leaking and cream and some kotex pads even though they give you some at the hospitlal i just like to be prepared just in case, i hope this helped.
