Hey ladies,

I was wondering how much weight you have gained so far.

My Dr.'s put me on partial bedrest due to tearing, and so I followed their dictate and ended up putting on 10 lbs in one month! My Dr. was not happy and I had to remind her that it was them not me. However she took me off any bedrest and told me to get out and excersise more. With my first pregnancy I gained a total of 42lbs at time of birth. I was told to gain no more than 40lbs this pregnancy either, but I am already at 30lbs... The baby is growing bigger but I am not sure how to keep this weight from ballooning out of control

i have gained 23 lbs in 25 weeks. and 11 of that was in the last month so i think as long as you are eating good and getting enough exercise don't worry about it too much because you are going to gain different with every pregnancy. and for the most part if you are staying healthy then its not bad to gain weight. the thing is you may just have a bigger baby.

With my first i didnt gain as much as i have with this one. Im 30 weeks and went ot the doctor last month and i got weighed and in one month i gained 14 pounds. Ive been gaining like crazy yet im so active and i eat right. At first she told me shes not gonig to tell me not to eat because i have low iron and i need to but then she measured my stomach and was like whoaaa, your all baby my stomach measured 26 inches from the previous month to 35 this month. She told me to be prepared for a big baby.

I am already a larger girl. With my 1st pregnancy I maintained my weight & when I gave birth I lost weight. I grazed all morning until lunch time on carrot sticks, cheese, cherry tomatoes, saltanas. I then had a hot lunch, then didn't eat again till afternoon tea which would be a Milo drink & biscuit & then dinner when I got home from work. I mostly ate pretty well. Cutting back on carbs yeh maybe, but cutting back on Protein I wouldn't recommend. Protein is so essential to both you & bub, it also helps you to feel fuller for longer, so you don't feel tempted to snack on junk. Drink plenty of water, this might also help flush out any excess fluid you might be retaining. If you think Gestational Diabete's might be on the cards, try a Low GI regime & see if this helps. Pregnant woman with GD are put onto this diet by the specialists, so it is very safe for both you & bub. Every woman I know that has had to do this ended up losing weight, even though that wasn't their intention.

I find that if I eat veggies strictly after say 4 or 6 pm then I do a lot better. I eat and keep track still on a app I have for the iphone but besides that I have had the same issues and feel that I am doing much better by curbing my intake of "bad" food or even carbs and especially empty calories after 4 when my body stops processing it so well.

Hey there,
With my 1st son I gained 20lbs exactly, went from 118 to 138 my entire pregnancy. Lost everything the week after I had my son. With this one I've actually lost weight during my 1st trimester and have yet to gain anything and I'm 19 weeks now. I'm about125lbs. I try to work out daily and limit junk food. I for one can not eat 5-6 small meals a day never have, I just graze on carrots & celery through out the day. I eat tons of veggies and some fruit. I do not (by baby's choice) consume any meat, eggs, or dairy so I drink a protein shake first thing in the morning. I eat a normal lunch, snack, and dinner. I eat when I'm hungry. And my vice is orange soda.
As for working out I've backed off the heavy weight lifting but I still lift and depending on how I feel I run anywhere between 3-5 miles a day. When I don't get to the gym, I do the Kim Kardashian Fit into your jeans by friday step work out. Purchased the steps @ Walmart for $40 and the dvd prior to being pregnant for $15 @ Target.
Are you sure you don't have Gestational Diabetes? One of my friends is 6 months and said she looks 9 months and just found out she has GD. Which explains her weight gain.
Try tracking your food intake for a week or acouple days, try walking, a friend of mine loves Wii Fit.

more frequent and smaller meals. try more fruits and veggies and less carbs and proteins. Are you keeping track of what you eat on a daily tracker? That would help your doctor point out areas where you having too many calories or whatever.

I had a friend who was going way overboard on her protein intake- she's still struggling to take off her baby weight...6 years later!

My suggestion would be eat small amounts more frequently. I have been eating smaller meals but instead of three of them have been trying to eat 5 or 6 times. Then i try to do alot of walking. I am now 31 weeks and have lost 22 pounds, i however am already somewhat overweight so my doctors said that it is healthy for me to loose weight as long as baby is still happy and healthy. Just try to eat well and stay away from junk food and then try to go for walks .. i am sure that will help, but as far as anything else i would not go to much into dieting or anything like that as it is not safe for the baby. Try not to worry about it and everything will be fine, i know some women that have gained as much as 80 pounds and they were fine. Good luck and hope this helps a little!
