Okay so I started feeling the baby move about a week ago and I am curious how often they are supposed to move. I am almost 21 Weeks and curious about how much movement around this time I should be feeling.

haha I know what you mean Amber. So many times I've felt the baby move for a good few minutes so I try to get my guy or some of the family to feel but as soon as I get them to put their hand there the baby calms down lol. My kid also doesn't seem to like being poked or proded, only a couple times do they seem to "play" back with me and kick where I'm poking. Usually they just roll away and get comfortable somewhere that's harder for me to poke and squeeze at lol.

it's common to only feel movement occasionally until your 3rd tri when it becomes much more frequent. sometimes the location of where your placenta attaches can "minimize" how often you feel movement.

It depends on the baby, I felt a LOT at about the 21 week mark with my son, however he didn't stop moving (and still doesn't!). If your baby is a little less active you won't feel as much as they are so small still. You also should start to feel much more in 4-6 weeks, if I remember correctly.

I'm only 9 weeks, so I don't feel anything yet, but if it's your second child I know you will most likely feel more movements earlier than the first pregnancy.

Hey, Congrats on your baby! This part gets really exciting: being able to feel baby move and slowly starting to bond with them as you will notice them move more to different stimulus. There's things like kick counts that you can do (seeing how many times baby moves in a one hour period, especially after eating - it helps to lay on your side if you're trying to feel for this), but like the other ladies have said it is probably too early to feel movement regularly. When I first started feeling movement it would mostly be for a few minutes after eating / snacking, and maybe only every other day or so. I'm 27 weeks now and feel baby move several times a day, but it's still not uncommon for me to go a few hours without feeling them move. If you start the kick counts early you can just keep a note of them in a journal or something and if you see the number go down a lot you can call your doctor if you're worried. Again, I wouldn't worry too much until another month or two have gone by cause it's hard to notice that much movement really early on. Around 28 weeks on I have heard that you should contact your doctor if you haven't felt more than 10 kicks after a 6hr period.

i'm about 20 weeks and i have been feeling like a have a fish in my stomach lol constantly swishing and swirling and kicking me haaha sometimes i can see the kicks out of the corner of my eye because they are so hard!!! i guess it depends but this is my first child so i was not expecting to feel anything but i also don't look that pregnant... so sometimes it depends on how much your belly has grown as well .

i started feeling mine move around 19 weeks.. i think everyone is just different

[deleted account]

It isn't very regular at 21 weeks. I felt my little girl move around 22-23 weeks, and even then it was only a few times a day, if that. Now she kicks like crazy and I'm wishing she didn't lol

i first felt my baby move at 15 weeks but in the begining its sporatic the baby is always moving its just that all of the kicks, flips, and punches arent as strong as others also in the begining it is easier to feel the baby in the evening (try drinking something really cold and eating a snack )or when ur relaxing bc the motion of walking puts them to sleep but later in ur pregnancy ur gonna want to tell ur baby enough already take it easy i thought my lil girl was gonna come out in a lil kick boxer uniform week by week u will be feeling ur baby move more and more. have u been able to see the baby when it moves or punches u?

It's not regular at this time but aslong as you feel them move atleast 10-20 times a day then everything should be ok. Although don't get too worried if somedays there is less movement than others (but be sure to call your MW if you get worried) as the baby can sleep more somedays than others. Good luck

Thanks everyone! I feel it everyday at least little kicks and stuff but not too much else except when it decides to roll up in a ball or something, maybe it is something different, it kind of hurts and it really hard. Tonight though I could feel it literally doing summersaults or something for a couple of minutes and then I put my BF's hands on my belly and it stopped, I kind of feel bad for him cause he doesn't get to experience what I do.

I agree with Elizabeth with that fact that you probably wont feel very regular movements at 21 weeks however it is very normal to be starting to feel movements by this time. From what i was told is weeks 28-30 are the most active weeks and this has definately proved correct for me this time. Althou at about 24 weeks i would feel movements everyday for a period of about an hour at supper time. And other than that it would happen a few other times through the day. Now i am 32 weeks and i am not sure this baby sleeps as i feel movements pretty much 24/7 lol. Hope that helps a little bit!

Movement usually isn't very regular yet at 21 weeks, it will be a few more weeks before it is. But I felt my daughter every few days at the very least before it was all the time. I always got nervous when I didn't feel her but my doctor just kept telling me I wasn't supposed to feel her all the time yet. Hope this helps!
