Please comment asap (SWELLING)

I'm 39 weeks on wednesday and last night I noticed my feet and ankles had swollen really badly. I have noticed a little swelling in my ankles for a few weeks but nothing to be concerned about. Also, for the past few days my hands and feet have been so itchy that I've nearly shed blood itching them. I've told the MW about the itchiness and she did a liver profile blood test for something called cholestasis and nobody has rung me so I'm in the clear. All the MW's have gone home now though obviously. What should I do wait till monday for my routine ante-natal or give the labour ward a ring (as they are the on-call midwifes at this time)? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Dena, I had pre-eclampsia severely with my first and it seems likes a blur because it went so fast. I suppose I'm just worrying. My hands are exactly like you explained. Good luck to you.

I asked the question about swelling last week at my docs because i had same problem. my hands also burned and got blotchy when my feet would swelll. i was told that swelling is normal unless you have had high blood pressure or something (cant remember exactly what it is) has been in your urine and it hasnt tested clear. Also, no news is good news in my office. If there is something wrong they will call you ASAP. If you have had problems with high BP then i would go to triage to be safe...dont want to risk preclamsia. Till then try propping feet up for as long as you can and it should go down. Hope this helps.
