Hiya im 35 week with my second baby and ive been getting alot of tightnings and back pain i woke up this morning at 4 to really bad backache felt like someone had just punched me there and my belly keeps going like jelly the back pain feels like im been winded and feel like my down belows are streching what could this be x

on the "you'll know". I had braxton hicks. back pain...all that and kept thinking is this it? one morning at 5am i heard a friggin pop. i was like....oh shit. contractions..couldn't walk or talk through them and i have a high pain tolerance. I just shook my husband awake....for sure, this IS IT. started 30 sec long and 5 mins apart and stayed consistent. only had 6 hours of labor, but once i had that first contractions i knew for sure it was NOT braxton hicks.

usually when you get really really relaxed, your body decides it's go time. :)

With my second pregnancy, I had contractions 20 minutes apart for 3 days. They didn't get closer until my water broke. It was no fun.

It could be a false labour and just your body getting ready for the real thing. If you are worried speak to your midwive or call the hosptial. x

well i went to the hospital and they said i was in the early stages of labor im about 4 cm dilated sooo we're on our way back soon cause im bleeding a little too much after an internal. hopefully will have pictures of my baby to post soon =)

yeah i get pain in my ribs, i put it down to thats where her feet are 24 7 and the back ache is incredible

are either of you feeling pressure down low and in your ribs? like it makes it hard to breathe and i just started getting these horrible pains in my back... i feel like im being ripped apart.... kinda hoping its back labor or something

I know its very uncomfortable, but try walking around a while again or bouncing on a birthing ball to see if you can get things moving a bit, if your stomach can handle it. The symptoms you have suggest labour is imminent, I think, but I know the waiting game can be difficult! Vomiting and/or diarrhea are normal as labour starts; I think I read that its the body's way of 'cleaning itself out' ready for the task at hand. I vomited through my labour. If you're worried, just give the hospital a call. Try to keep up your fluids, as you'll feel 10 times worse! And you're right, no-one tells you about this stuff! Just try to remember it'll all be over soon, and you'll have the best reward ever :-) I've got my fingers crossed for you! xx

oh they just never tell u about these part lol "ITS THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER" (just dont mention the vomiting, pain, heartburn lol)
i neer had heart burn b4 either but had it real bad aaround 30-35 weeks, i was almost living on mylanta roll tabs,
and sadly no she hasnt decided to come yet but shes definetly letting me now shes there.
its not so much the vomiting that hurts, its the same paini always get when i vomit, i just tense up. even b4 pregnancy i would end u in tears from vomiting.

ive been keeping my meals very simple, toast with a tiny bit of butter, dry cerial (no milk) and pasta with no sauce (so yuk but sauce makes me feel sick quicker)

and i try to walk regularly but today i got the most horrible feeling, exactly how you described it mary, as if she was gonna just fall out the bottom, i could feel her foot wiggeling in between my ribs but down lower was just MAJOUR braxton hicks and felt so painfull, but it passed

Poor Jess, I keep hoping I'm going to come back to this and see that your baby's already here, but not yet.



I've been feeling very naseous too and I haven't been eating much because I get heartburn so bad it's just not worth it and I can't force anything down (btw, I never ever had heartburn prior to pregnancy) Stick to simple things like oyster crackers, granola bars, water, and popsicles. I've been pretty much eating one light meal in the afternoon and just barely snacking on crackers when ever I can stomach it for the rest of the day. I've also heard that you shouldn't drink WHILE you're eating. You know what I mean? Don't drink WITH your meal, wait a while afterwards, the fluid with the food in our squished-up stomachs adds to the heartburn/naseua/sickness.



I think if your vomiting so bad it hurts you should definetly call your doctor! Even if they say it's normal, at least you know. I've been having a little heartburn throw up if I lie down too soon after eating, but no vomiting. Make sure you sit up after eating or drinking but if you're seriously vomiting a lot, I'd call your doctor.



@ Amanda: everytime I walk for long periods of time (which in pregnancy-adjusted-time is like, five minutes, haha) I start to feel so much pressure like the baby is either just going to fall out due to the sheer force of gravity or I'm going to pee my pants or something. Ah, these are the little "joys" they don't tell you about when they present the illusion of pregnancy as a "glowing" happy butterflies and rainbows time of your life.

is it normal to get nausia and vomit late in pregnany? the last few days ive been unable to eat almost becuase of how quizy i feel and the vomitting just hurts

oh im os over false alarm, the contractions get closer and closer together and i get so excitted and think this is it then nope they just stop completely or die off its so annoying, how am i ment to know its real if this keep happening lol

You're making me very excited, I'm 37 weeks and always on the look out for signs!

Is this your first? My doctor told me at my last prenatal appointment that you're usually pretty sure you're in labor with your first and that it's very unlikely that it'll "sneak up on you." Like others here, he said to go to the hospital if your water breaks, or contractions are 5 minutes apart, and call if you pass any blood larger than the size of a quarter.

Labor usually last longer with your first (from what I've heard from my doctor, I'm still three weeks away from my official due date so I can't say I know from experience) I've been adviced by other mothers and prepared birth class instructors that it's nice to spend as much time at home, on a short walk with your DH, or in the bath, or just staying comfortable before you go to the hospital and are stuck there in a bed hooked up to fetal monitering equipment and what not. Use the bathroom as often as possible and drink clear fluids.

I can't tell if I'm having Braxton Hicks or not, because I think it's just the baby moving but very sharp feeling. I'm not really sure either! I hope I know when it's real though. I don't know if the baby has dropped yet either but when I'm walking sometimes I all of a sudden feel very sharp sudden discomfort about four inches below my belly button like I have to pee really bad but I don't really have to pee. I usually wince and scare everyone around me into thinking I'm going into labor too, haha, and then have a good laugh to myself afterwards.

When you have contractions, drink lots of non caffeinated fluids. Dehydration can cause contractions. Keep your bladder empty, and walk around to see if they get stronger and closer together. Will be thinking of you :)

It certainly could be. My second baby did that to me. I was in agony all weekend and then I had her Tuesday morning. Really pay attention to when your contractions are coming because I was just feeling severe hip pain to the point that my husband had to roll me over in bed because I couldn't do it myself. The contractions I was having felt like the baby was moving and not like contractions. The hip pain was so bad it made the contractions feel that light. Call your doctor and see what they say about you coming in. If you still don't feel right, I would go in. No one knows your body like you do. Good luck to you!

Talk to your Dr. About it. With my first, I was contracting every 1-2 min, I went in to the E.R. and I was only Dilated to a 5 or so. They sent me home, and told me I was going to be in that night to have my baby.
So I went home and tried to rest as they told me to. 8pm that night I went back in, but still didn't have her untill 11:40 the next day.
One thing I recommend that is a natural birth starter, IF your DR. says you're ready to give birth (had mine a week early) is for your DR. to "storke the membranes.
It naturally releases a chemical around your cervix and induces labor within 48 hours.
It doesn't hurt at all, and it really works :)

could very well be....dont know how far you are but if your past 37 weeks then labour could start any time. id keep timing how often you get the contractions and for how long they last. i know at my hospital they want you to be getting contractions every 5-10 mins at they must last at around 30-60 seconds.



you will know for sure if its labour if they start to gradualy get stronger and closer together or your loose your muccus plug or waters break.



if you have a pregnancy ball sit on it and wriggle around it might ease the pain on your hip/thighs. or straddle a chair and move your hips. when i was in labour with my 1st all the pain seemed to be in my thighs...they were killing me. you hear of front labour or back labour but no one warned me of leg labour lmao!
