I am 31 weeks and for the past few weeks, practically daily, and now increasing to multiple times a day, my heart will just start racing. Sometimes, I am just sitting on the couch, or sleeping at night, sometimes it's while I am working(I am a waitress) or just grocery shopping. My heart rate will go to 120-150bpm. I also get short of breath and start breathing like I just got done running. Last night I almost passed out, got nauseous, sweaty, dizzy all at the same time. My doctor said I may need to go to a cardiologist, but there is NO way we can afford that right now.. Anyone else have this problem or know what causes it or what I can do to relieve it?

I had the exact same thing with both of my pregnancies. Just walking from point a to b would cause my heart to race and if I did not sit down immediately, my legs would give out and I would fall or pass out with all the same symptoms that you are describing. I saw a cardiologist and was diagnosed with pregnancy induced heart tachycardia. I do not have any kind of heart condition when I am not pregnant. There are medications to control heart tachycardia and they worked quite well for me. Without the medication, I would have had to go on bed rest.

I have had racing heart while pregnant but I was born with a heart condition so I see a cardiologist once a year for a check up my cardiologist says it is normal for me based on my heath history , I would go to a heart doctor if it keeps happening better safe than sorry

Yes, I am having the same issue while I lay down in bed at night. If I put my hands in my belly I can feel my uterus going as fast as my heart.
Some websites say that elevated blood preasure is normal during pregnancy, but check it with your doc

Thanks for the input. I go to the dr on friday again, and should be going to the cardiologist sometime next week or the week after.

Oh my! I have the same exact thing going on with me and I am almost 31 weeks, with my first pregnancy. My doctor is very concerned with my blood sugar (glucose levels) and she is scheduling an EKG. I have not yet gotten results, but it could be important to look at. I almost fainting while my last doctor's visit, very dizzy, sweaty, hot flashes. They gave me apple juice and animal crackers and i did feel better. She told me to always eat full meals and snack since I did not eat enough that morning and the baby gets most of that food and energy. So I'm trying that out, but still I'm having those same problems too, think its the way I'm eating, or the doctor would look for gestational diabetes or something.I've never had a problem with my heart, everything has been pretty normal. I would think to take it easy and rest, eat healthy, keep in touch with ur doctor and see if he/she can refer you or test you. I have michigan medicaid, so maybe your state can help? Best wishes to you and your lil one :)
