stones in gallbladder whilst pregnant

I found out I had bad gullstones Before I was pregnant and Was ready to go for a surgery but we found out I was pregnant. The Drs Waited until I was in my second term to remove them it had to be an emergency surgery due to my Liver being infected from the stones. I had my surgery done when i was 13 weeks pregnant and was sent home the same day(day surgery). It was Painfull But I tought it out. Ever sence i have not had a attack. I am 25 weeks pregnant and both me and the baby are healthy as ever..

I have a mess of them I am told, I have had some attacks which are horrible! But until it becomes Life threatening the insurance through the state will not pay for my gallbladder to be removed which is what the doctor is recommonding. Gotta love not having my own insurance. Thats what happens when you get pregnant right after graduating from college without a job LOL Hang in there! Unless it causes lots of pain for you just make sure to stick to a low fat diet.

I was 8 weeks post partum with my first pregnancy when I had my first gall stone attack, which I went to the ER because it hurt so bad and by the time the doctor came in it had stop hurting and he ruled that it was just gas. I went two more times, the third I was 6 weeks pregnant again and they did my blood work because I was also passing a kidney stone and they found out I had Pancreatitis from a gall stone trying to pass and getting stuck in my pancreas! They kept me in the HP and told me that if I wasn't pregnant they'd be doing emergency surgery to take out my gall bladder and if my pancreatic levels didn't go back to normal I'd have to have the surgery at the expense of my pregnancy anyway! But my levels did go down and they put me on a strict low fat diet, I am now 28 weeks and (knock on wood) haven't had a severe attack again. If you have to have it out while pregnant the best time is in the 2nd trimester, but they'd rather wait. If it is done during the first trimester they have to actually cut you and then leave the wound open to heal. If you are having a gall bladder attack you will know, the gall bladder attack hurt worse then labor and the kidney stone passing!

I found out at 10 weeks that I had gallstones. I had to go on a strict low fat diet. I had an attack for no reason and they determined that I had to have my gallbladder removed. So at 25 weeks pregnant, I had laproscopic surgery to have it taken out. I was in excruciating pain when I had an attack. I could usually stop it by taking 6 tums and 2 tylenol, but it got to the point where it was too much. Me and baby are doing great now, Im at 29 weeks now and my scars have almost healed up completely. I was told that gallstones are really common among pregnant women. Hope everything works out ok :)

I had to have my gall bladder removed 2 months after the birth of my son! I was told for 6 months that it was gastritis and to take mylanta for relief. Boy were they wrong! I had gall bladder disease! I hope that your drs. took better care of you. That was the worst pain I have ever gona though an dI have shattered my heal bone and dislocated my ankle and given birth to my 8 lb 5.4 oz son! Hope it all went good for you!

I cannot say that I have, however, 10 days before I found out I was pregnant, I passed a kidney stone that was terribly painful. I went in to the ER with serious pain to where I was throwing up and had severe side pain. They took a pregnancy test that came up negative, and found blood in my urine. They did a CAT scan, which failed because of my hip replacement, so they had to do an ultra sound. Found that I had a few stones in my kidney, and just gave me pain meds. 10 days later I took a pregnancy test and it was positive. So technically I was a couple weeks pregnant while passing this stone. So far I am 35 weeks along, and no problems with stones, however, since they showed up in the ultra sound, that means they are still there and I have the possibility of still passing them. Doc's advice was to drink lots of water, cut out as much soda as possible.

I don't know if the gallbladder stones are any different passing/pain wise, but I would give birth 1000 times more than to pass a stone!
