everyone is different.. i want to try it too i have read about it the worst it can do is give you diorrhea and it can make you feel abit nauseous.. GOOD LUCK :D

trust me its better to wait... castor oil can be very dangerous and its not garunteed to work. when ur baby girl is ready to get here she will arrive:) but u could always ask ur dr

After taking castor oil how long was it until your water broke? Or did you get contractions first? I'm 38 weeks but it's been a hard pregnancy, I've taken two spoons of castor oil I'm vomiting with running tummy. It does feel like its helping tho and it's been 5 hours since I took it. Please help,....

I really think if it was safe , then doctors would suggest it. They don't and I have heard absolutely horrible things about it.
I am currently 5 days from my due date and even though it is painful to walk or roll over in bed I want my baby to come when HE is ready and would never do something dangerous.
Walking and sex are both great to do while you are pregnant. Also the longer you are pregnant and allowing things to go naturally , the chances of a short easy labor are much better. I was induced with one of my kids and it was so much harder on my son compared to the ones I went into labor with naturally.
I would try to relax more and really think of what is best for your baby. If you are more concerned about yourself , keep in mind taking something to induce yourself can just end up causing you problems or you having a C-section.

Think your crazy, babies are meant to take 40 weeks plus if thats too long for you why get pregnant in the first place because guess what babies and children tend to be inconvenient get used to it. Ive had four pregnancies they've all gone overdue thats life.

I am 31 weeks preg with #4, i use castor oil with the last 3, and going to do it again.
First bub I used it at 37 weeks 5 days, but nothing, then i had 30mls followed by sucking a lemon,( this helped with the yuk taste).
As long as you know you will be sitting on the toilet for some time. Make sure you drink more water than usual after taking the castor oil. And stay close to home, make sure you have someone with you when you take it.
Just remember if your baby isn't ready it won't work.
After taking it, walk it will help it get through your system faster.

i did it and i wentr in labor but my son almost died. he pooped and breathed it in. please don't try it, i was one of the ones who was told not to but said i would be fine and ended up having an emergency c section

I was told by my midwife not to do it until you are full term. I waited until a couple of days after and I had some and still nothing. My daughter arrived 8 days late! And the castor oil was absolutely disgusting. I would never try it againno matter what. Just let nature take its course. I can understand how you feel because I was so uncomfortable and tired and excited waiting to meet our little girl, but really they will come when they're ready.

Honestly dont understand what the rush is, why try to induce? Baby will come out when hes ready. Ive been at least a week over on all three of my sons and fully expect to on this one. Enjoy being pregnant because it will be over quick enough.

Yes, do it! It works... and its safe at your stage of pregnancy. I took two tablespoons (accidently, after thinking the chemist said tablespoons and not teaspoons haha) stirred into a glass of orange juice at around 9am and by 6pm... steady contractions... Bub was born at 3am!! :)

Yes it does make you go to the toilet all of a sudden but if you're quite regular for the few days leading up, it wont be terrible diarrea or anything. Better that, than going on the delivery table!

I was past 40 weeks and barely dialated. My neighbor suggested castor oil and orange juice. I took it, and although it started contractions, I was in labor for two days. I delivered at 41 weeks.

hi there.i took caster oil when i was about 39weeks preg with my 1st and gues what it did nothing i ended up taking an induction kit from my heathshop at 40weeks and 5days as i was sooooo over being preg by then and guess what my son was born the next day so try caster oil if u want but i garentee it wil do nothing.good luck

Castor Oil was both wonderful & awful for me. My son was one day shy of me being 42 weeks pregnant & my mother had to get on a plane & fly home the very next day...so she wouldn't get to see the birth of her grandson, or even see him at all for at least 5 months. I had tried everything; walking, running, sex, nipple stimulation, NOTHING was getting this baby out & my midwife would not induce or break my water. I was already dialated about 3 centimeters, so I knew he was on his way soon. But, I had been dialated for over a week, and was REALLY uncomfortable. So, I took the oil mixed with equal parts of cranberry juice at 10AM. I spent the rest of the day WALKING. I did have some diahrreah (no serious cramps though) starting at about 3PM and then BAM! 5PM my water broke! 7 hours later I had my sweet baby boy with no issues what so ever.

I did not have one of the awful experiences with CO that I hear from some women, and I feel that in my personal situation it was worth it. But I had to do a lot of mental preperation to get myself ready to have a baby THAT DAY. I do not plan to do it with my second pregnancy...I want to run the full course on it's own. It was not a horrible experience, but I'm not going to do it again, and I only advise it in extreme situations. At 38 weeks, you could still have some time to go...ride it out mamma!

I have never tried that but with my first i was a month early she was just shy of full term, she was premature... The problems that it caused her and us are def. not worth it. I pray on everything that i am full term this time because going through the troubles is not worth her coming early, it was the most scariest thing ever. I do not smoke, didnt drink nothing just had a straight loving pregnancy, at almost my 8th month i was soooo ready for her to come.. I was sick of being prego && just wanted my little girl here!! Its not worth it, she had really bad breathing problems, she turned black and blue in my arms, she was on an apnea monitor, which went off several times... I was sooo scared she is 8 mnths and fine now, but when they are premature their brain and body functions arent connected properly... they said that her brain was forgetting to tell her lungs and body to breathe, which was causing her to not breathe, she didnt know how!! and that eventually she would outgrow it... luckily she is fine now.. i know your ready but please go as long as possible its not worth it!

i did pre labor acupuncture from about 34 weeks,and accupressure monday night had baby at 5am tuesday 3 hr labor,no drugs,baby was one week early!(39weeks)

My friend told me that if I use castor oil to also take a warm bath. She said that is how she started her labour with hers. My mom tried it mith me and she just got sick.

I used castor oil with my past 3 labour.

The first time i took it, nothing just cleaned my system out.

I waited a week then took more, then walked around the yard, cleaned my system out and went into labour. 20mis later she was born.

Second and third was the same.

I found if you are getting regular braxton hicks, this helps.

Make sure you have people around when you do take it.

I took 30mls then sucked a lemon, it tastes really really bad.

After you take it walk, but walk close to the toilet. The castor oil cleans out your bowels, i mean really cleans them out. The muscles you use for your bowels are the same as labour.

If you do take castor oil and you dont go into labour, this just means your baby isn't quiet ready.

Nope I definitely do not recommend it. With my last pregnancy I heard of some people taking it but that it was dangerous and all it would do would make your baby very slippy coming out. Imho thats not good because baby needs the pressure to get rid of the stuff in their longs on the journey out. I tried everything last pregnancy from sex to brisk walks, spicy foods nothing helped. I was 12 days overdue when my DD entered the world. I think baby will come when she ready and when your body is ready just let nature take its course :) Good luck in the next few weeks :)

All castor oil does is irritate your bowels, and make you have repeated BMs. Try prune juice instead. I tried castor oil with my last pregnancy, it was terrible! I tried prune juice this time. Both had same results, BMs and no baby...

I wouldnt do the oil either. I would try sex, or some really good nipple stimulation. That will get things going, or at least it should. I tried everything with my 1st and nothing worked. She was 5 days over due! This time around I have already scheduled an induction. I am sooooo done being pregnant as well!

I took the oil but all it did for me was false labor. which hurt liike hell and i was unable to sleep for two days the only reason i took it was because they refused to induse me my daughter was born a week later but it wasnt because the oil I dont recomend it

I'm with Nikki on this one. I was over 2 weeks late, and did everything EXCEPT Castor Oil, because I also heard it could be dangerous. I was SOOOO tired of being pregnant, thought I would be forever. Nothing worked for me. However, I didn't choose to be induced, because it increases (studies show maybe even DOUBLES) the risk of c-section, probably because it stresses baby and mom too much - things typically go much smoother if you just let your body and baby do it naturally when they are both ready :) At about 2.5 weeks "overdue" I went into labor and had a great birth and super healthy baby. The waiting at the end is the WORST part, I think, but it is coming SOON - no one has EVER been pregnant forever ! I couldn't believe it, but it really is true :) Good luck and try to relax and enjoy your final days of quiet time!

I took Castor Oil with my first and it worked! I took it and followed it with orange soda so I wouldn't taste it. It cleaned me out before I had her that same night. I got to the hospital and had her 19 minutes later.

You are 37 weeks which is considered term so don't worry about your baby being premature! I JUST had my son at 37 weeks and 1 day.. he was PERFECT!! DON'T DO OIL!!!! It will only irritate your bowels.. believe me, i was ready to do anything... but just allow your body to do whatever it needs to do... OR= jst have sex! lolol it does work.

DONT DO IT! It doesn't do anything except give you a horrible case of diarrhea and a lot of cramping to boot. There have also been questions on how safe it really is for baby. Many professionals believe that it could cause the baby to have a bowel movement while in the womb, which is extremely harmful to the baby

sex. it worked both times for us to induce labor. sperm contains Pitocin, which is what they give you in the hospital to induce laor.

I tried it with my son, and it didn't work. I also tried walking, sex, and pressure-point massage... none of those worked, either. I had to be induced.
