So is it just me or is it the majority of people who take their glucose test always goes back for a second round from being only a few points high of the mark...?
Well, Starve anyone then make them drink liquid sugar within 5 minutes is of course gonna make your sugar levels unhappy.. Especially for a pregnant woman... More needles for me..

I passed mine the first time with all three pregnancies. I was nervous because I have heard so many horror stories, but guess I got lucky. Good Luck!!

I didn't get the chance to take round two apparently round 1's results were so high that I got sent to the nutritionist and nurse to start taking blood sugars daily. After 3 weeks the dr put me on meds until the end of my pregnancy because we couldn't regulate my sugars.

lol I agree way too much!!! sorry I've been there and done that - waiting for round two in this pregnancy ... ick. Good luck to you!

I had Gestational Diabetes but it was very, very minor. I was able tocontrol mine for the longest time by only diet and then when I was about 7 1/2 months I started taking a prescription sugar control twice a day. THe tablets were as small as my birth control pills were. So it wasn't bad at all.

In this pregnancy, so far I've tested fine for gestational diabetes. Weird, cuz my diet is so worse than the first pregnancy lol. Oh well, I'm sure I will test positive again and have to take the 4 hour test. That test is absolutely the worst.

The orange drink is by the worst one to drink ... It was a year before I could drink orange soda again after that!!!

Thats strange Niki Cause i am in australia and i still had to do all the blood tests and i am glad i did optherwise they would never have known i have Gestational diabetes as i NEVER get sugar in my urine!

never even heard of this test - its funny the difference in 'normal' testing practices in different countrys - in NZ for our glucose tests all we have to do is pee on a little stick at each midwife appointment, no starving or drinking sugary drinks - you poor girls!!

Its not that bad. I passed mine the first time and made everyone laugh because I asked for more because I was so hungry! Just have someone go with to help pass the time. You'll be so hungry that everything won't mean anything to you! You can sit and daydream about your favorite food and then go eat it when your done! You deserve it!

I just took the test not to long ago. This was my second test, (second pregnancy) I got the lemon/lime flavored glucose drink, the other ones arent so easy for me to get down. but still it is just so sugary and not having anything on your stoumach drinking that, its not fun. And I HATE needles. But I passed agiain, this is my seocnd daughter. Only thing that they found is that my hemoglobin was low, so now I have to start an iron supplement.

I was confirmed for having it about a month or so ago. It isn't that bad you just have to eat smaller portions 6 times a day. I cheat every now and then but it isn't as bad as it sounds! Good Luck everyone.

Oh god... lol I'm going in for it tomoro.. I can't stand the idea of them sticking that dang needle in 4 times!!!! GRR!! lol The woman who did it first of all couldn't really pronounce her english and second of all she scraped my vein so instead of just the regular bruise, I have another one a cm higher!!! This is gonna suck...lol
As for the diabetes part, I'm not too worried either way. Both sides of my family have it for the men and ironically my medical history has mimicked theirs. I just hate the poking needles and lack of food....

LOL i had the 3 hour one! but i have gestation diabetes. It really isnt to bad. i am insulin dependant but only of a night! yeah i know go figure my day time sugars are perfect after almost every meal unless it full carbs overload.... But of a morning even tho i havent eaten all night unless i am on insulin there is no way i could get them down!

But yeah the drink is horrible but it is apparently for the best!

With my first pregnancy all my results were fine. But now on my second and my results for gtt were 0.4 too high, now I am on a restricted diet (not that different from my normal eating habbits anyway) and have to check my sugar levels 4 times daily with a finger prick test. I was a bit freaked out to start with as no one in my family has had this in the past and I wasn't aware that I was at risk (over 30 and pre-term first baby apparently puts me in the category) But all in all it's really nothing to worry about, my life hasnt really changed much for it, the tests take about 30 seconds to do changing my diet slightly has kept me within the right sugar levels and my baby is on the 50th %, not huge as can happen if undetected. Not half as bad as I thought it would be.

UGH !!!! That stuff is so nasty they make you drink . I have always had issues with not wanting to keep it down and of course you get the whole rude "You will just have to do it again so may as well just deal with it " I am just shuddering thinking of it . Last 2 pregnancies I had to redo it , so really not looking forward to it this time . Not to mention I have issues with keeping normal foods down to start with . YUCK !

I passed it the first time, but I was nervous cause everyone else in the family has gotten gestational diabetes. However I wasn't told not to eat, they just told me not to have anything with excessive sugar in it that morning.

I actually passed it the first time with my son... but I have to take it in a week or two for this pregnancy (a girl), and I'm nervous. I hope everything turns out okay for you.

I hope that isn't the case!! I have my (first) test in two weeks....I am really not looking forward to downing a bunch of sugary stuff and getting my blood drawn the first time, but twice argh! I am going to cross my fingers!
