To get a Haircut or not to get a Haircut during pregnancy

i would say no to haircuts in pregnancy from my side of view because if we pass out (well i hav)

it may not be safe for the baby.

i prefer to cut my hair after my pregnacies . Is that you in the picture?i think cutting just above the shoulder length with a bit of layers and feathers at the sides might be great for you ,(just a thought)x

Do what makes you feel good. Go ask the hairdresser what length they think would suit you. I love getting my hair cut and coloured. It's my treat to myself and yes, like all the other mums have said when bub gets here, doing your hair will be the last thing on your mind. If you colour, they say make sure you are in a well ventilated room and make sure your hairdresser is willing to accomodate you if you need to stand up or something. I needed to drink alot when I was getting mine done and once I even needed to lie down because I was gettng light-headed. Hope this helps : )

im the same way...but when i chop it off i donate it to locks of love! they need it more than the trash can does!! its so worth it! but ive been thinking about cutting my hair as well ...its past my butt!! im thinking im going to do it right before the baby comes!

The only thing I know about hair and pregnancy is that your hair may seem 'thicker' and fuller during pregnancy. This is due to the fact that your hair doesn't fall out as regularly as it normally would. After the pregnancy your hair will generally go back to normal, so don't be alarmed if it seems you're losing a bit of hair!



If you have the problem that your hair is to thick, might I recommend you get light layers? Just remember you're hair won't stay this thick, so you don't want to too many layers!

I cut a little over 10 inches off my hair. So far I am liking my hair cut from Gene Juarez Academy. I liked helping students and getting a cheaper haircut. And iwas happy to help Locks of Love (I donated my cut hair to them).

I have never heard anything wrong with getting a hair cut. The only issue I have heard debated is coloring/highlighting hair. I was told hair cuts are actually good but it is best to wait on using any coloring products until the 3rd trimester.

My hair has been past my shoulder blades since before I had my first daughter... I'm not a fan of short hair on me. I have had it just above my shoulders before... I'm sort of wanting something different... I decided to color it instead of cut it. BabyCenter.com says it IS safe to color your hair during pregnancy. I'm 18 weeks along, and have colored my hair once, I will probably have to do it once or twice more before baby is born... If you are in the mood for something new, go for it!!

I love having my hair long but i've learned babies pull hair and its hard to always have it back so I plan on chopping mine before the baby gets here just for convienece

lol, I did the same thing.... I was 11 weeks when I chopped all my hair off... above chin length. it's already growing out and im guessing it should be shoulder length by the time the baby gets here..... if your hair is bothering you..... either cut it off or keep it in a ponytail or a clip or something... hairstyle wise.... if you are worried about it... just pick one that you have had in the past.

I have to contradict the big girls look bad with short hair comment..... chin length hair is made for a full face its called frameing and it does wonders!

I cut mine from a little passed my butt to my chin!! I do the same thing as you. I loved it. I did it about a month before my due date because it was heavy and in the way and i was sooo bored with it! the great thing is if i don't like it my hair grows so fast now it will grow out!

I am 34 weeks pregnant and have gotten my hair cut during pregnancy. People just do not agree with coloring hair while pregnant. Cutting your hair is no risk for the pregnancy. Do you will feel better after your hair is cut.

My hair was midback length, and all one length at that. I used to have it in layers, but its so thick and long, they grew out. I wanted a new style, so I went and got side bangs and lots of layers. Its still the same length, but I love the style. It is true, some bigger women do not look all too great with short short hair, bc the round face doesn't suit it. I thought mine wouldn't fit to my short side bangs, but I LOVE IT. I'm so glad I got it done. I get compliments everyday. The only thing I worry about now, it the fact that they wont go into a pony tail, they're so short, and I am constantly swishing them back. (even more so when I dont wear my glasses, lol) So just think about all those things. Would you rather be able put your hair up, or pin it back some other way? Maybe if you're worried about how your face will look, don't go so so short. If it looks good, try a little shorter to where you wanted it before. Just a few ideas....Hope I helped (:

Cut it! Do something for yourself that makes you feel good. I'd leave it long enough so that you can put it back in some way (or short enough that it won't get in your face/eyes), but that's really the only parameter I'd put on it. I plan to go mid-March-ish (due 4/10) to have mine cut again.... For me it's a treat -- a shampoo/conditioning with a head massage pretty much, and I feel wonderful afterwards, so yea...I say do it. :)

I think you should wait until the baby is born because most women tend to loose a lot of hair after the baby is born, and a haircut usually makes it better!

I think you should go for it. If you can, try donating to "locks of love" (usually they comp your haircut, but not always)... it helps those who lose their hair due to diseases (mainly cancer).

I am not worried about safety. But I have heard that because we are getting plumier some haircuts are bad choices depending on the person. I know it's silly but I wanted to here what my fellow preggos thought. Thanks!

It's safe to get your hair cut during pregnancy, people are just weary about coloring their hair. Since your hair grows fast anyway while you're pregnant, at least if you didn't like the style you could have peace in knowing that it will grow back quicker than average! I'd say go for it :)

girl when that baby comes ur just gonna have it up all the time anyways...i cut all mine off too... its a good idea when they r little babies they cant pull it or slober in it, and u can fix it ezier...i say do it
