Unwanted Items

I have had quite a few people offer used clothing and baby items for our child in the begining I readily accepted the items sorting through and washing the better quality items. Some items were great others I either donated or threw out.

Now I have reached a point where we have enough and I just can't take anything else. In addition we received quite a few new items at our baby shower. I have tried to be diplomatic in letting folks down easy however people have acted offended. It isn't my intention to hurt their feeling I understand they just want to help.

Any advice how I can let folks down easy?

say thank you and smile.. really big.. if you get 5 carseats for instance.. how do you use them all? you don't! you can't be expected to use everything! just like your own clothes, when you get too many of 1 thing.. like shirts.. you sort through and keep the best and favorite ones and find new homes for the rest.

you could always accept the stuff and then give it to someone you know really needs it or donate it?

I would just tell them the truth...that you really appreciate the offer but think you have everything you need right now and would rather they give it to someone who needs it more than you do. Or you can accept the gift from them and donate it to a women's shelter or pregnancy center for the needy. I give all my formula samples and clothes I don't use to our local pregnancy center and they are thrilled to get it (plus I get a tax deduction for it). Or you can list the stuff on craigslist and sell it off cheap...then use the money for what you really need. I have done that too :)
