Well I'm only 19 weeks with my first and I've been feeling them for about a week and a half. To me, once you know what it is you can understand why they say it feels like butterflies/gas. I was sitting down watching the figure skating in the Olympics and I literally felt 3 small thuds from the inside. It literally felt like someone was kicking me very lightly from the inside. I was laying back in the recliner. I have felt the "kick" which may include arms also all over the front of my belly, sometimes it's up high sometimes it's down low. Now as far as the "butterflies" it felt to me like you could imagine a butterflies wings hitting you pretty hard, and gas, well if your tummy doesn't act as it normally would during your gasy state, then that's probably a kick, the "gas" feeling is more like a tummy rumbling feeling to me. I hope this helps.

I am 19 weeks and I feel it lower down below my belly button and it feels like a quick little spasm....at first I just thought the feeling was stomach things, but I was told that if you don't have gas or any other GI symptoms it is most likely a kick. That seems to be the only way I can tell......I also only feel the baby a couple times a day, but this is also my first.

Hello! I'm 28 weeks. Also pregnant with my first child. I started feeling him when I was about 21-22 weeks. At first it feels like little flutters. So I'm sure your feeling your baby move around in there. Within the next week or so you'll be able to tell between baby and gas. My fiance was able to feel him about 23 weeks. Very soon you'll be feeling those little karate moves in your tummy. =]

I would describe it as feeling the way it feels when you feel your heart beat except that it's just one beat and generally in your abdomen.

When I feel it in my pelvic area it's just gas and the gas feels more steady.

The kicks are not steady and come at random intervals for me. Also the kicks can be much bigger than the gas. My little one can give nice strong kicks with all her limbs at once :)

I am 21 weeks with triplets! And let me tell you, it feels so weird! It feels like you have gas or indigestion. Sometimes for me, it feels like someone is rolling a small ball on the inside of my tummy. Sometimes it feels like a spasm. They're kicking pretty well now and I can see the kicks/swats through my clothes. As I type this, they're kicking.

Since I have three, I feel kicks just about everywhere. There are certain times of day when they babies tend to be more active. Try to remember when you feel the "weirdness" in your tummy!

Hay guys, im new to all this, Im 19wk pregnant with my 3rd child, i have been feeling this little one for about 2wks now and getting stronger everyday. I think it feels like bubbles popping and sometimes a poke, this one is quite low down more bubbling just above my pubic bone and to my left. X

I am 17 weeks with my first child and mine kicks throught the day. I can mostly feel it when I'm sitting up right after I ate something sweet. The kicks feel like somethings poking me from the inside it mostly feels like spasms but I can definenitly feel it and distinguish it from gas. I love the feeling its very reassuring. I can't wait to find out what I'm having in 2 weeks. I'm hoping its a boy:)

Thanks everyone! I am feeling her now everyday. As Danyella A said "it feels like someone is rolling a small ball on the inside of my tummy. Sometimes it feels like a spasm." I feel better knowing that she is moving and ok. :-)

I'm 31 weeks now and I first felt the butterfly movements at around 14 weeks, first solid kick at around 18 weeks. And she hasn't stopped much since. I agree witht he others, it's kinda like a tapping or muscle spasm and just gets stronger. Now she hurts when she moves sometimes lol. But in the beginning it was really exciting/fun!

Maddison Elizabeth Marie Bearce is 31 weeks and 1 day old in Mommy's tummy and is due May 1st, 2010 but is expected to be be a preemie =)

hey congrats, im 21 weeks with my first and for me kicks feel like gentle prodding on the inside, it depends if your feeling them roll or actual kicks, because to me when they're rolling it feels like bubbles. you would feel your kicks around your lower abdomen mainly, it really just depends on where and how baby's laying :)

I felt Peanut's first kicks/movements at 18 weeks... It a definite "bubble" feeling, but you KNOW it's not a normal gas feeling... It feels "alien" in the fact that it's not YOUR body causing the movement... I'm now 24 weeks and most of the kicks are really low (my hubby also felt Peanut's kicking for the first time last week). Mine are mostly below my trouser line... Now and then it feels like the little bugger is doing cartwheels as I get a sharp pain (air-bubble) against my ribcage... All fun and games when using mommy's bladder as a trampoline!

I started feeling mine for sure around 20 weeks, i'm now 22 weeks and he seems to like tackling my bladder most of the time... lol The way i describe it is like big bubbles bursting in there against my lower abdomen. They say you don't need to pee as much in the second trimester but bub has other ideas.. haha

They feel like little butterflies, or flutters, in your stomach. I knew right away when I felt mine. They are very fast early in the pregnancy....almost like a pulse. I felt mine at around 22 weeks also. They're amazing! Now, they are painful ): lol.

With both of mine, I was able to feel them somewhere around the 15 week range. To me personally, it felt just like a little chick trying to get out of an egg. It was a little - tap, tap, tap, like, "here i am".

They are forever kicking even when they are too little for us to feel it. I am also pregnant with my first baby. I first felt her kick, and actually knew it was a kick, when i was about 21 weeks. I was sitting on the couch watching a movie and i felt 3 taps from the inside of my uterus. I just knew it was her kicking, and from then on, she has just been really active. I am 26 weeks now and her kicks and punches have just gotten stronger and stronger. I can see them from the outside now. Amanda is right. It does feel a lot like a muscle spasm, but i guess you will just know. I hope this is helpful.♥

well im about 8 months pregg with my first and at first i cud barely tell but a few weeks later u can definetly tell if your getting kicked or not im to the point when mine starts moving it looks n feels like one of those creepy the-alien-is-inside-me type movies and ill see a randon body part of hers move across my tummy and now that im almost due i can feel where she's laying and i can feel her hiccups its the weirdest/awesumest feeling ive ever had. in regard to where you feel it first that depends on if the babys flipped yet or not but what you might think is kicking cud be puching i get movement all over my body so it depends on what they are actually moving iv hav everything from my bladder to bellybutton to right under my ribs i know that sounds really vague cuz it can be everywhere but i hope that helps
