when Can the doctor tell the sex of the baby?

I had mine with my first at 16 weeks, but it was at a specialists office and was 4D so they could see much better than the standard U/S.

i found out at 20 weeks and my doctors would not do it a day before then. they actually made me wait an extra day or two just to be sure. they told me the parts sometimes dont descend until around 16-20 weeks. I know it's hard but just be paitient! it will be here before you know it!

they do like to do it at 20wks also because your due date can be adjusted also, with my first pregnancy my ultrasound was at 20wks i was only a day further and she was breech so i went back at 24 wks and luckily she repositioned and showed us shes a girl! my second ultrasound was also scheduled at 20wks and i found out i was actually 18wks and she was a girl! my 3rd ultrasound is scheduled for the 27th of this mth and i will be exactly 19wks, and we know this for sure because i have had two ultrasounds at 4 and 6wks when i was haveing complications.

The Dr's I have been to have said they like to wait until 18-20 weeks because the parts are more developed. I think I found out around 20 weeks with my first and will find out at 20 weeks with my second.

early as 16 weeks but most of the time they wait after your 20 weeks. but im only 13 weeks and 4 days and they think its going to be a girl,when i had my ultrasound done they said they dont see any male parts forming. lol

Im 20 weeks have my appointment today and we are going to find out the sex of the baby but its my 2nd baby to answer your question only from 20 weeks thats when they can see clearly the sex of the baby. Be patient you will get there just enjoy the ride! Take care...

From 20 wks on wards its possible for the Doctor to tell you the sex of the baby provided the baby is sitting nicely nt hiding or facing the other way.

usally around 4 to 5 months if the baby is cooraptating sometimes they dont

I had an ultrsound at 17 weeks and they couldn't tell what it was so they are going to wait til 21 weeks, Dr.'s said it's more likely you will be able to tell the longer you wait. I have 2 weeks till then and I am so anxious! Every opportunity I have to peer into my stomach and see what is going on is exciting to me :0)

docters can tell the sex of the baby at 20 to 22 weeks beacuse they dont want to be wrong beacuse of ppl buying things when they find out the sex.

I am 14 weeks I go back when I am 19 weeks to get my ultrasound



The Dr will let you know when he/she is going to have you come in to do the ultrasound

I had an ultrasound at 19 weeks for my third and im scheduled again at 19 weeks (april 8th woohoo!) to find out wether my fourth is a lil boy or a girl...best time from what I can tell is yes around 20 weeks. Its aggrevating waiting...

Generally it is easiest at 20 weeks . They always say to give things a 2 week give or take with babies in utero , 20 weeks is usually the easiest point to tell , and most dr's will generally do a 12 week screen for downs where they measure the back of the neck area . And then another at 20 to check for other defects and usually to see what the sex is if the parents want . Regardless to you wanting to know or not , they will generally note it in the file if you chose not to know what the baby is .

I just had my 20 week ultrasound weds 3-31 . We are having a BOY , and I got some awesome pics that you can see there is no doubt !

i guess it depends because at 18 weeks (when i first found out) they couldnt tell for me, im now 38 weeks but found out at 34 week ultrasound

naw 12 weeks is too early. if you get the book what to expect when youre expecting it will give you details. but basically at 12 weeks the sex organs have not started forming yet/just barely starting. That doesnt florish until your second trimester around week 16 when if its a boy his testicles will drop and the penis begins to grow outside the body. but even then it may be too early for a very accurate guess. its never a 100% for sure thing just an educated guess by the ultrasound tech. its at 18 weeks-20 weeks they usually start testing for sex. Any earlier and the chances of them getting it wrong or changing it at a later ultrasound goes way up. So you can get one early if your insurance will pay for it but i would wait until my 18-20th. cause youll definitely want one when baby is bigger and you can see more, and that way you wont have to pay out of pocket if you exhaust you insurance options. Youll get there mama, no worries. I know how anxious you are im at 31 weeks now due in june and I cant freakin wait to hold him! congrats and hugs!

My doctor told me they can tell around 16 weeks. I found out at 22.

Most doctors will make your appointment for 18-22 weeks and it all depends on what position the baby is in.

I had a scan at 12wks and was told its a boy. I'm only 90% agreeable cos I couldn't really make out the parts + I'd like to have a girl. Can't wait till I reach 20wks, the scans would be more accurate.

at 12-13 weeks the sex organs look almost the same...so it's really hard to distinguish the two. I found out the sex of my first via ultrasound at 20 weeks....my second at 16 weeks...my latest at 17 weeks....

Usually the doctors would rather wait till 16-22 weeks but it may depend on your doctor. Mine wants me to be 18 weeks while my last wanted me to be at least 20 weeks.

I know that at 13 wks it is very hard to distinguish anything between the legs, I just had mine today. I've seen a few people who have found out it was a boy at this stage but it is very hard to confirm, everything is so tiny. I could have found out with my son at 16 wks if he wouldn't have been stubborn and stuck his butt int he corner and wouldn't move. We had to wait til 20 wks to find out it was a boy. This time around I have another ultrasound on May 6th, I will be 18 wks so I'm hoping we'll see girl parts this time.

My u/s tech took at guess at 16 weeks and was right. I don't know if you have heard of the gender predictor test you can buy at Walgreen's or CVS, but supposedly, you can tell as early as 10 weeks. My test was right on when I did it at exactly 10 weeks. Good luck, I know how nerve racking it is to wait! Congrats!!

oh congrats first of all im 14 weeks today and my next dr app is april 7th haha um by an ulrasound you cant tell until around 20 weeks is when they are more comfy doing it then cuz by then its a deff developed enough to show but some will check at 18 or 19 by then you can see but normally they wont until your atleast 20 weeks congrats your welcome to add me as a friend if you would like to i love getting new friends to chat with about anything :) congrats again angela
