So you go through your whole pregnancy with this date they give you in your head thinking that your baby will be here around that time!! I know babies will come when they are ready and its common to be 2 weeks late but come on! I am only 1/2 cm dialated to top it all off

Is there anything i can do to help me dialate more? Ive tried walking and sex and it doesnt seem to help....Any advice???

And im not yelling im just disapointed =)

breast pump?

If you're planning on breastfeeding and have a breast pump already - get to pumping. It causes your uterus to contract - even now my daughter's 6 months old and I can still feel it when I feed her. They warn you strongly NOT to pump before the baby's born because it will send you into labor, but if that's what you're going for - try it! It can make your contractions stronger and more intense, but if you're going to get an epidural it shouldn't matter by the time they get really bad you won't feel them. That's just what I would do, if you're tried everything else!

well i have been in your shoes before...my daughter was only two days late but i felt like a lifetime. with her i didn't dialate at all and ended up getting induced. the sex thing does help sometimes. maybe you should try doing squats...my doctor told me to do the same thing with this baby who is due in two weeks. good luck and congrats on the baby.

when was your due date? your docter has to induce you by your 41st to 42nd week because your baby starts to lose its fat and weight and thats really bad.

No one mentioned this so here it goes. Nipple stimulation! I don't mean playing with them for a few minutes at a time, consistent stimulation for hours. It really does work. Why do you think breastfeeding helps you lose so much weight? Because the nipple stimulation causes your uterus to CONTRACT!!! Seriously try this if you want to go into labor!

Unfortunately the due date is just an estimate because there is no way of knowing EXACTLY when you conceived unless I guess you only had sex once and even then, sperm can last up to 72 hours to fertilize an egg.

On top of that unless your period is always regular, ovulation might have been a little later than their estimate (I think my baby is going to be later than they suspect because there's usually 34 days between my periods, not the average 28, and ovulation occurs two weeks before what WOULD have been your next period, not two weeks after your last, which is what some people think and how a lot of doctors estimate your due date) It could actually be that you're only a week late or so.

There are some valid concerns about the placenta so your doctor should have run test and done an ultrasound to make sure the baby still has plenty of fluid and nutrients. If your due date was a little off your baby might just be fine and dandy and on her own schedule and unaware that everyone else thinks she's late. But if she really is late then there are concerns for placenta deterioration and maconium in utero.

My doctor is going to do something for me called "stroking" the membranes I think where he's actually going to "stretch" my cervix manually to stimulate hormone production that brings about labor but I'm about 37 weeks and already about a centimeter dilated.

Also I'm in no hurry because I'm graduating in May and I still have a final project due for my major... haha, although I know the baby isn't going to wait for me to "finish my homework"

Again, keep walking (I know it's hard, it's hard for me! It makes me feel like I have to pee even if I just went because this baby is getting so heavy) the doctor says the pressure and the rocking motion helps your cervix dilate and become effaced. Keep having sex (the messy way, without being too graphic, the semen actually helps as much as the act)

Other than that... spicy foods and nipple stimulation. I've heard drinking a beer helps your milk come in and set off your body's reaction to have that baby out. I don't want to advocate drinking during pregnancy but I think one beer in your ninth month isn't going to hurt anyone.

I haven't experienced spontaneous labor and am now pregnant with my third child. I'm not exactly expecting it to happen here either. With my first, my OB stripped my membranes, had me walking miles, and ultimately had to induce me at 10 days past my due date. The fluid levels were starting to get lower. No distress, but why run the risk. With our second child, at my due date, my cervix was showing no signs of anything other than softening. This was on a Friday, we opted to induce the following Monday. Not that we didn't hope labor would begin over the weekend.

This child is coming out at some point, it's just a matter of how. You can wait. You can induce. You can ask for a C-section. Talk to your doctor about your concerns and how you are feeling. The goal here is a safe birth for both mom and baby, any method that gets you there is the right choice for you.

I'm really hoping that this post finds you in labor and on your way to the hospital.

i didnt know speed bumps were harmful to the baby someone had just told it to me, i had never tried it bc i ended up having a scheduled csection so i didnt really need to dilate unless it just happened on its own.

don't go over speed bumps! the book my doctor gave me when i became pregnant says that going over speed bumps anytime during pregnancy really fast can be harmful to your baby! theres not much you can do most "ways to go into labor" are myths that don't actually work! i would say just try not to think about it and be active! your doctor knows best and knows your situation and if your doctor isn't concerned i wouldn't be either!

I know how you feel! lol I'm only 37 weeks but as soon as you hit the full term i think it's just natural to want the baby to come. Hang in there and know that your baby will come in their own time and maybe he or she doesn't wanna leave mommy just yet! lol

It's not a good idea to raise a stink about them inducing you because, unless there's something actually wrong with your baby (and they'd know), inducing you could cause more problems than actually waiting it out. If it becomes an issue, you can request it, but if you're only disappointed at this point I don't see a need. If walking and sex aren't helping, the little bugger just isn't ready to come out yet :)

Inducing a mother when the baby isn't ready, especially when the mother is barely dilated, often leads to a much slower birth than the mother might otherwise have. If you just wait it out a bit and let the baby come on his/her own, you'll have the cooperation of your body on your side, rather than chemicals to help speed up a process that could otherwise go smoothly naturally.

(Also, inducing you increases the odds of you having to have a c-section. So if you're interested in a more natural delivery, I'd shy away from the idea -- unless there's something wrong with you or your baby.)

after 2 weeks they need to induce you. Start making a stink!@! After 40 weeks the placental performance goes WAYYYYY down and may actually stop working if it goes too long. SO Be a pain in your doc's butt until they induce you!!!! It would be so much better than going 40 weeks and then ending up with a still born!

i agree your doc wont induce you??? but try driving over speed bumps kind of hard--the jar is suppose to help send u into labor and eat spicy food and try lunges and squats
