well with my first i was really big so they did alot of ultrasounds at the end and at around 37 weeks i had one just to see how big she was estimated to be and they told me she measured anywhere between 11-14 lbs! so yeah i was terrified that i was never going to be able to push her out with out splitting in half...lol but anyways when the time came she ended up being 8 lb 5 oz so it wasnt soo bad as i thought it was going to be! those readings for their weight through ultrasound is only an estimate and they are not always right take it from me! and i heard of people giving brith naturally to babies that were 10 lbs so i guess its not impossible im just glad its not me..haha

My son was 9lbs 15oz, I pushed him out with no problems in about twenty minutes, the mass majority of that time was getting him down far enough to crown, once he crowned he was out in two pushes. One for the head the next for the shoulders, his body kinda fell out (I was standing up).
It doesn't matter as much how wide your hips are on the out side (mine don't look wide enough). It matters how wide the inside is and how it is shaped.
Also when they estimated the weight of my son they thought he was going to be 7 1/2lbs to 8lbs at the most. They were way off!

the ultra sound weights are extremely wrong. my nephews said he was 2770 gms but when he was born 2 days later he was 2110 so do not worry. also my 18 week ultrasound said my baby weighed in at 284gms which is the average size of a 20 week foetus. but supposedly i was only 18 weeks 6 days by their scans. but my dates say i shoulda been 20 weeks so not always acurate

Well my son was 38 weeks when I had him and he was 8 lbs 10 oz. being two weeks early. I would have had a 12 lb kid. I had him naturally, with no meds. I had an episiodomy (sp?) because it was my first child and they knew he was big. But that didn't help me much.

I had a second degree tear up the side of my area, not down where I was cut. My tear required 11 stitches. I was like really...that's not supposed to happen! It's because my sons head was 16 3/4 cm...just a little large!!! I healed alright, but I am still really sensitive all the way up the side of my lip. But it's the joys of labor.

And I am going to have my next son (due jan 19th) naturally as well!

I had a growth scan at 34 weeks with my first and he was already 7lbs. had him naturally at 39 weeks and he was 10lbs 1oz. My second was also born at 39 weeks but via C-section and he was 10lbs 7oz. Now im pregnant with my third and due in jan. I always measured more when the did my fundal height and with my first boy I was measuring at 50 cm at 38 weeks.

But if they are concerned they will keep an eye on you.

Good luck x

I had 2 big babies so far... 8 lbs 12 oz, and 9 lbs... both were very easy, fast delivery/labors, I thank gravity for that :P

But yeah, doctors just guesstimate, the sizes are rarely that accurate. Just breathe and stay healthy and don't worry - we're made to push babies out!

At my last ultrasound that I had 2 weeks before I had my boy said he was at 7lbs 13oz, and he was 8lbs 6oz 4 days over due.

My first daughter weighed 7 lb at about 37 weeks as well. She was born at 8 lb 2 oz (I was cut and forceps were used). The doctor told me that I wouldn't be able to deliver a baby any bigger, BUT....
My second daughter weighed 8 lb around 36 weeks. She was born 9 lb 10 oz (I tore). She was actually easier to deliver.

I was told my baby was small, my fundal height always measured weeks under, and i gave birth to a 9lb 12oz baby.. what they tell you is just an estimate, which as all the women have said is usually wrong! don't stress out, our bodies are designed for this kinda thing!

calm!!!! when you are in the delivery room you will be surprised by how much you just do what needs to be done so naturally!!!! if you tear you tear ( i did with both my boys and still thought that they were both easy deliveries) get the epidual if you want (i found that it was great) and it helps alot with pain. Good luck and congrats

I just went to my 20 week appt and the doctor told me the weight just by measuring the size of the baby's stomach. They said that the "average" size of a baby at 20 weeks is 8-8 1/2 oz., but they said mine was 12 oz.! I was freaking out already, until my friend who just had a baby told me they said her girl was 7 1/2 lbs. and she came out 6 lbs. 9oz.... between her and what I'm reading here, I think you'll be ok :o)

Same here! My doctor told me that my baby was 8lbs and she ended up being 6lbs 4oz . You will be fine I was worried I wouldn't be able to push her out either!

I was told at 36 weeks that my son was 7lbs. The doctor told me he'd be 9lbs easily at birth. I wound up having an emergency c-section due to my blood pressure at 40w 4d. My son was born 6lbs 3oz. Doctors are wrong about the weight all the time.

when I was 36 weeks I was told that my son was already 9lb 5oz so I had a heart attack too lol, I ended up being induced and having him at 37 weeks and 3 days and he only weighed 8lb 10oz so most of the time the doctors are wrong when it comes to predicting the size of an unborn baby. Some babies do put on a pound a week in the last couple of weeks but some put on alot less, I wouldn't stress cause theres a big chance that your baby will be smaller then what they have predicted and I am sure your body will be cope just fine no matter how big the baby is.

just breathe :) my friend just had an 11 pound baby, vaginally without tearing. If she can do that, you can do it too! Breathe with the contractions, keep yourself calm and remember that your vagina is MADE for this!!! 7lbs, 10lbs, 12lbs... your vagina and your body WILL push him out and you'll both be fine ♥
