I have a four year old little guy who hasnt seen his father in over a year. I would love to know how other people answer Questions that kids ask, in regards to an absent parent?? My answer of, Our house just doesnt have a daddy, but we have everything else that we need to be a family... and you are loved... isnt going to cut it much longer im afraid...

Lucille, i appreciate your post. I would be alright with your explanation... if my son could relate. However, its difficult to tell a child, that a parent who is non existant, loves them... when they have the understanding of what the Love of a parent really is. You cant hug, someone who isnt there... who you cant even remember enough, to put a face to...
I agree, that his dad shouldnt ever be spoken badly of... but i cant build him up either... later on, i fear that would only be the same kind of a lie to my son.
I hope you know, that even a part time dad, is better than no dad... Your childrens dad at least has a face... and that alone, will answer man¥ of the questions that my son, wont be able to answer.
Your children are blessed to have you for a mom... one who loves them enough... for both.

I use to tell my kids that daddy has some problems that he has to take care of, but he does love and for you very much. I don't know your situation, but mine is my kids father is a part-time daddy. I wanted my children to know regardless what the situation is between me and dad is that my children know they are loved.
