From oversized back packs to dropped ice cream cones, sometimes it can be tough being a kid. Share your kids’ stories here and tell us how you (mom) help out your kids after a long day of childhood.

I remember the first time my oldest came home nearly in tears. He had had the worst day of his life he told me. I recognized that look. I gave him a hug, then I took him to my bedroom, and told him to lie on my bed and just close his eyes. Next came Pink Floyd. I told him just lie there and forget about your day, just listen to the music. About an hour later he came out of my room, the only thing he said was "Thanks Mom."

I now do that for all of the kids when they are over stressed. I try to remember it for myself too. Sometimes when life seems the hardest, we all just need to remember to breath.

I simply hug my daughter, tell her how smart and beautiful she is, and I explain my workday to her so she knows it's okay to be busy and it's okay to be tired. I give her a nice warm bath with my bath and body works stuff (she loves that). I may polish her nails or we just lay in the living room and draw. She also does Zumba with me, which she loves because not only does she get to have fun, but she gets to be with mommy! Reading together every night...Simple stuff pleases her.

My kids LOVE when we go to the YMCA or the park. I also like to suprise them and have all the chores done so when they get home from school they can relax...

speaking of ice cream cones - me & my kids love ice cream. So after a long day - school, practice/rehearsal, homework... if we can squeeze it in before bedtime, we like to have a bowl of ice cream. Something quick and sweet. How can your day be bad after that?

(you can imagine how excited they were when we got a box of yogurt to taste & review! -- http://slackermomof4.blogspot.com/2012/1...)

I let my 9 year old into my husband and I's bed sometimes if she has had a nightmare or can't sleep but because we have 20 month old twins they sometimes wake up in the night so they have to come into our bed therefore we make a little bed at the side of our bed that she can sleep in.

We love to go to the park to play or on a nature walk and enjoy the beauty that is all around us. Helps to take the mind off of any concerns and just focus on enjoying our time together.

We talk. My kids love talking, telling me things that happened to them during the day. Sometimes they remember something years before! I have learned to keep quiet and listen and to only give advice when asked. Cuddling on the couch or bed helps too.

We have family nights where we play video and/or board games together. It's really fun to get the whole family involved.

Well coming from a poor family we could afford to get massages or go out to eat really, they are my younger sisters who i took care of... the way i would help mine after a long day of childhood We would bake stuff together or make some neat little arts and crafts together an while we would be doing these projects I would ask them about their days and about their teachers and afterwards I would help them with homework as needed..

I take my 11 year old son for a monthly full body massages. He is physically exhausted from riding bike to school, carrying a heavy backpack and playing select sports. Plus it's fun to have some quality time :)
