Before school starts vacation anyone?

We will be squeezing one last all day amusement park outing on Labor day then ready for school the next day.

Hello Maria thanks for sharing your family trip with us. I also have a big family so I understand the need to cut cost wherever possible. I heard the DollyWood is a great place to bring children. Sounds like you guys had a great time. When does school start back in Miami? School starts here in the Twin Cities Sep 8th.

My family (2 boys, 2 girls, and hubby) all took a road trip to Pigeon Forge, TN. We drove from Miami and made 1 overnight stop there and back. It was affordable because of all the pre-made meals I prepared and kept in a cooler. With such a large family, eating out is very costly. Also, while visiting 2 parks DollyWood and Splash Country, we brought bottled water and snacks (bagged chips, cheese sticks, grapes, bottled water) The option of driving anywhere rather than flying is always a given on saving as well. I just love it! You and your family have a blast in Reno. The Jazz Fest sounds like a great things to do right before school starts again. This should have you so relaxed that you will be able to tackle anything this school year throws your way:) I would love to hear all about it when you return.

Heck yes!! Unfortunately, it will be a driving vacation - nowhere near any beach!! Boo hoo for me! However, after a long hot ride across the Southeastern states, I will be near a beautiful lake and I plan to make the most of it. The two girls, my mother and I will be in Reno during Jazz Fest (Aug 14-16) which, in and of itself just sounds weird with us coming from New Orleans and all, but when in Rome. . . anyway, we'll all get to enjoy the beauty of Lake Tahoe for a few days. Then it's back to New Orleans and off to school the next day!
