Hello Maria thanks for sharing your family trip with us. I also have a big family so I understand the need to cut cost wherever possible. I heard the DollyWood is a great place to bring children. Sounds like you guys had a great time. When does school start back in Miami? School starts here in the Twin Cities Sep 8th.

My family (2 boys, 2 girls, and hubby) all took a road trip to Pigeon Forge, TN. We drove from Miami and made 1 overnight stop there and back. It was affordable because of all the pre-made meals I prepared and kept in a cooler. With such a large family, eating out is very costly. Also, while visiting 2 parks DollyWood and Splash Country, we brought bottled water and snacks (bagged chips, cheese sticks, grapes, bottled water) The option of driving anywhere rather than flying is always a given on saving as well. Hope it helps.

I just love it! You and your family have a blast in Reno. The Jazz Fest sounds like a great things to do right before school starts again. This should have you so relaxed that you will be able to tackle anything this school year throws your way:) I would love to hear all about it when you return.

Heck yes!! Unfortunately, it will be a driving vacation - nowhere near any beach!! Boo hoo for me! However, after a long hot ride across the Southeastern states, I will be near a beautiful lake and I plan to make the most of it. The two girls, my mother and I will be in Reno during Jazz Fest (Aug 14-16) which, in and of itself just sounds weird with us coming from New Orleans and all, but when in Rome. . . anyway, we'll all get to enjoy the beauty of Lake Tahoe for a few days. Then it's back to New Orleans and off to school the next day!
