Anyone's 2 1/2 year old Potty Trained?

I have twins and they are 2yrs9mth and they aren't potty trained. I have tried, but they just dont get that they have to sit on the toilet to do it... I have friends with kids the same age and younger and they are toilet trained. She will improve, dont worry too much. I'm not...

na dont worry every kid is different my 8 year was not fully potty trained til about 3 and my 2 1/2 year old was potty trained at 18 months now my baby is 16 months and wants nothing todo with it it just depends on the kid and if they r ready

My 2 1/2 year old has been potty trained since he was 20 months old. He started wanted to go to the potty with my husband all the time, so we purchased him underwear instead of pulls-ups. He messed them up several times the first day he put them on, but he didnt like the wet feeling so within a week he caught on. He also sleeps at night without pull-ups or a diaper and has been for several months now. Pull-ups feel just like diapers. They never worked really well with my other children. It is also in timing. Each child is different. They go when there ready. Nothing really to worry about. Boys do seem to potty train a little slower than girls.

definetly dont worry - my eldest was 3 before he was ready and 3 1/2 at nights. Littley goes on the toilet at bedtime like big bro but we haven't been lucky enough to have him wee - but in time. I think so many mums rush them and can cause real problems. we tried to start potty training with my eldest with a sticker chart and he started trying to force the wees out and ended up with a prolapse so a warning to heed about not rushing them! good luck - just remember how many kids do you know who start school without being trained?!

our little boy has been going for 3 months now. i was the one who wasnt ready he just came and asked one day to go to the toilet, i didnt have a potty or anything. my girlfriend whos little boy who is 3 months older has just started doing to same. i think they go when they are ready, and you just relax until then. Sticker charts work GREAT!!

I potty trained my son over the summer and he continues to do very well. He goes independently during the day and in the middle of night. I wouldn't worry, I meet lots of other kids his age who are yet to be potty trained

My 2.5 year old could care less. He is excited if I make him sit and pee but will actually run from you if you want to change a poopy diaper. I would like to get him into Preschool ASAP but they won't take him if he is not trained yet. POOP!

nope she's not behind. On a note though if she does okay at home it may be that she just gets too involved when she's out and forgets. a frequent reminder (like asking her every 1/2 hr - 45 min) may be a trick to cutting down on accidents. And then just always have an extra stash on pants in the car!

My son will be 3 in February and he is not potty trained yet but I just started using a different method today and it is working so far. He has used the potty twice already.

my daughter is potty trained, minus an accident here or there (maybe once a month) she has been in undies for 3 months now and does go potty without my asking her anymore... but my niece is 3wks older (born 1-11-07) and she still wears diapers constantly and really is uninterested in the potty... i think it all depends on the child... if they are ready, they are ready...
im starting with my son now too, but he wears diapers if we will be out for awhile and at night (born 12-26-07)
also, when u are out travelling or when she is playing, its harder to want to tear herself away to take a potty break - thats what my son does... when we are playing its like he doesnt even realize it and will have an accident, but if hes sitting there with nothing to do, he will remember to sit on his potty lol

dont worry every child is differnt! i know a few kids who werent potty trained till 3-31/2. just be constaint, dont put her back in diapers and ask her constaintly if she needs to go potty (i swear when my son was first starting it felt like that was all i said "you need to go potty?") maybe you find something fun about going potty (make up something). my husband took X in the bathroom with him one day and showed him how "men" go potty adn my son saw it made bubbles adn has been peeing in the potty ever since because he is excited about the bubbles.

Everybody is different. My son is 2 1/2. He will be three in February. He is potty trained but if I put a pull up on him, he will have accidents so I put big boy underwear on and at night I use the pull ups because he is not at the point to where he would wake up

Hello I think your worrying too much also. I worry alot about that my son is now 2 yrs and 9 months old and he still isnt potty trained I almost had him at 18 months but then i went into labor and had my daughter and didnt have the time or energy to keep him going like i did and between all the vists and me being a stay at home mom i liked to leave and get help the first month so that messed him up. He will tell me when he already has gone and what he did he also knows that you go in the toillette but he wont do it i have tried candy, stickers, reading books, everything and he's just not intrested. So when we move into our new place I plan on getting him on lock down to the toillette mode he's the only on of my friends kids thats the same age that isnt potty trained I really hope i find a strategy that will work for him. I also hope you find something that works for your daughter some kids just arent intrested i know 3 1/2 yr olds that arent potty trained and yes some to do with the parents but i have seen some of the kids scream kick and bite when they try to put them on the toilette.

My daughter (now 4) was fully potty trained by the week of her second birthday. All it took was her figuring out how to get on the potty by herself without a little seat. I would put a diaper on her at night and when we traveled until she was 27 months old just in case, but I threw away more clean diapers than soiled ones. My son (now 31 months) is just now getting to that point. He has been much harder. Lately, we have been finding that he has taken himself to the bathroom. Which is great because I don't have to feel like such a broken record asking him all the time! If he gets playing and there is a lot of action around him he will forget, but then every now and then we hear my daughter go screaming for the bathroom because she has waited until the last minute!

I've learned from being a full time nanny to having one of my own that kids will go when they are ready. lol Like they are born when they are ready it will happen patience and maybe a sticker chart! lol good luck...

I think you might be worrieng too much, I know plenty of almost three year olds that still wear diapers, So be greatful for where she is right now! My daughter is 2 1/2 also and she has been potty trained since she was 2 She does really good she doesnt pee the bed at night and she wears her big girl "pannies" all the time just stop randomly and ask her if she has to potty! it will open the mommy I gotta pee thing!

My son was potty trained at 27 mo's, He wanted to do what he seen his bigger sister do so it worked out well, plus he was to start pre-school in Aug and in order to go into the older 2's room he needed to be fully trained. He does it all himself whenever he needs to(pee/poop). I wouldnt worry to much right now at this age.

I am currently training my daughter also 2 1/2 & she tells me when she needs to go most of the time even no. 2s !! She is our 3rd child & they were all different. I don't worry about what stage other kids are at with this as they really are all individials & learn when they"re ready. As long as you keep at it, stay patient she'll get it. I put her straight on the toilet ( with a little toilet seat on top) & praise her heaps & she gets really excited about it all. I have used pull ups this time but same principals apply....don't go in your undies!!!! She is very proud of herself when its still dry. I took her to the shops for the big test & I just kept asking her if she needed to go. She got 'stage fright' & wouldn't go at first but I went too & she then realised all is ok & 'wulla' she went. Sometimes they forget when playing as I figure they get distracted. Don't expect too much too soon I'm sure all will be well ,they are funny little beings. She isn't behind just a little uncertain when out & that's ok. She'll get there. Try not to compare as you'll drive yourself mad.

My sons been potty trained since his 2nd birthday but I need to invent a toilet gaurd cause he misses it 8 out of 10 times I wouldnt worry, I never heard of anyone going to kindergarten in diapers!

my daughter does great on the potty but she does have a few problems once in a while...she was trained at 2 so its has gotten a lot better.. gud luck to everyone

My 2 1/2 year old daughter is fully potty trained for day and night. She has been potty trained for about 6 months now. She also goes to the potty by herself (actually prefers to go alone). She has several cousins the same age as her that hasn't even started potty training and has no interest in it at all.

My son will sit all day on the potty and nothing will come out....Soon as he get up he will go pot right in his pull ups or underpants the Doc say's don"t worry he is just not ready yet . try not to push to hard

My 2 and a half year old sons been potty trained dry by day and night for sometime. He decided himself he was a big boy and now goes toilet on his own!. which was great but my friends son who is 8 days younger than mine has not even started potty training. I think when ur daughters ready she will let you know, she could be faster and learning something else. Sam

I had my daughter potty trained by 20 mos. but the going out part was tricky. that took 2 extra mos. I just ditched the pullups all together when training so if she peed in her panties she knew and was uncofortable enough to wanna tell me. Its messy but it really works.

Kynzie will use the potty during the day only has to use a pull-up at night. If we are going somewhere and are going to be in the car for awhile I still put a pull-up on her.

My daughter is doing the same exact thing! I try not to worry, it will all come in time. I think it is just that she is so into what she is doing, ya know, with a friend, maybe new toys, and just so busy that she doesn't realize the sensation of having to go. It will come in time!

Im kinda of having problems with my 2 1/2 also he will go pee but not with #2.I dont think u have to worry as long as we keep helping them now they will let us know when there 100% ready.

No Worries! :) My lil man could care less about pottying and the doc told me not to push it too much, he'll go when he's ready! And I worked at a daycare, with 2 & 3 yr olds and amost all of my 3 yr old boys were still in potty-training mode! He'll get it when he's ready, hang in there!!

I think it depends on the child. I have one child who was potty trained by 1 1/2 and my middle one was trained by about 3 1/2. My 2 1/2 year old wants to but doesn't stay dry long enough at night to be ready yet. Good luck.

Thank you ladies! She is now potty trained! I decided I wasnt buying diapers anymore so put undies on her and in two days she refused to wear them at night...which 3/7 she will wet but getting better. No accidents during the day other than poop...but 2 days ago she decided it was better to poop on toliet than feel icky. And boy am I thankful cleaning it out of undies was just wrong! I think it was me that wasnt ready to do the work...but now she tells me when she has to even out and about. Thank you for all the advice!

its a process....no need to worry...my 2 1/2 year old is potty trained during the day and on outings... i take her potty with us and reminder her to go before we get out of the car i also have a folding traveling potty cover and instead of asking her to go i tell her to go which takes about 5-10 mins... just be patient and keep encouraging on outside trips.

No worries, my 5 yr old showed all the typical signs that she was ready to potty train at 18 months, so we started potty training. Well she wasn't ready 1 & 1/2yrs later when she turned 3 she was finally potty trained. Our ped. just kept telling us she'll potty train when she ready. My son whose 2 trained much easier all it took with him was consistency. Taking him to the bathroom every hr until he finally got it.

No need to worry. You dont want to push a child too much. when they are ready one day they will wake up and say, HEY I think Ill stop pottying in my diaper.

Hi Heather,i would say don't worry much as most kids get potty awareness between their 2nd and 3rd birthday. My daughter was potty trained when she was almost two and my son is now 2 1/2 and doesn't want to so it on the potty so i just gave him some extra time to develop more and get used to this whole new independence.xx

My daughter is potty trained at home and at school. She still sometimes forget to ask to use the bathroom when we are out. But you shouldn't worry about your daughter too much she will get used to it in her own time.

my 2 1/2 year old son does # 2 in the potty all by himself but will go #1 in his pull-up if he is wearing one, so at home he wears underwear during the day and rarely has any accidents. he also really likes using the potty while we are out and about...the problem there is more mommy not taking him often enough.

jocelynn was potty trained by her 2nd birthday in the house and then shortly after we ventured out into the word, things that worked for us is set you phone alarm for every 45 min and wherever you are put her on the potty . . . if not near a potty i keep a training potty in the car for emergencies and the goal is no accidents during a day out, been successful with that and then about 3 months ago we stopped wearing diapers for nap(always make her go potty right before nap) and the last month she has been sleeping through the night with no diapers, she has just started to have accidents in the morning but i am fixing that prob by putting her training potty in her bed room for her to use in the morning when she cannot make it to the bathroom or wake me up since we keep our bathroom doors locked at night

Everyone, of course, wants to brag about how developed their child is...mine IS really advanced lol-Although, he is not potty trained. He'll tell me when he has to go, when he did go and will go on the potty sparatically but he's not even close for underwear or pull ups at night. I'm getting frusterated! If you have any advice, my ears are open.

You are worrying too much. You should not compare your daughter to her playmates. I would suggest looking up developmental milestones. Potty training is a process and is different for each child. Many children need to be encouraged to go in an unfamiliar place and most children aren't potty trained until around age 3. Many children will stil wet the bed sporadically until school age. Rest assured your child will eventually go potty all alone.

my son was doing really good using the potty, but then he got sick and was in the hospital, for a couple of days and he just refused to go on the potty after that. I'm on vacation this week and since we are going to be at home by ourselves we are going to work on it. Wish me luck!

I used to worry a lot but suddenly, in a day, she started using the toilet! It was really in a sudden. She always refused the potty, but found herself comfortable on a toilet seat. Don't give up!

I wouldnt worry. My 2 1/2 yr old is the same way. Shell use the potty at home (if naked) but if I put a pull up on her shell go in it...I havnt bothered trying to get her to go outside of home. It took my oldest daughter till around 3 to use bathrooms outside of the house...but she HATED using other bathrooms other than the one at home. She thought they were gross so we had some issues with that for awhile. lol

My oldest daughter potty trained at 2yrs old but then my second daughter didn't start going till she was 3 1/2. Everyone is different. Just be patient and keep on her. she'll get it.
