My son, who just turned five has always been a picky eater. Anyone with ideas about how I can get him to try new foods?

Here are things you can do:
1. Place different kinds of fruits and veggies in an ice cube tray and have him "explore" the new food
2. Have a rule that kids will only eat what's on the table - no preparing extra food
3. Serve one food you know he likes and another that you want him to try (that way, if he really doesn't enjoy the new food, he has something to eat)
4. Encourage fruit eating through smoothies
5. Have on a bite rule where he has to try food at least once.
Hope these help... :D Let me know if you still have trouble so I can see how else to help :)

My Son is a very picky eater... he will eat chicken nuggets, oatmeal, chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, banannas, apples, fruit juice, vanilla ice cream, penut butter and crackers, and that's it. He refuses to try anything new.
Anyone have any ideas on food that is similar to what he's eating now that I can use to transition him into trying new things. Thanks.

I have a 5 and an almost 2 year old. It's hard to get them to try things. Sometimes they just won't. You can try the take so many bites but that rarely worked with my 5 year old son. He's very strong willed and already opionated. So I just make sure they take multi vitamins along with omega 3 vitamins. And to make sure they get veggies, I use a juicer. I add carrots, broccelli, cucumbers, and add various fruits and other veggies. My kids love it and they're very healthy. They'll try new things as they get older. I just want to make sure they are getting the right nutrients. Good luck!
Also-if you don't have a juicer try V-8 juice blends. Not sure if that's the correct name but it tastes great!

I have a boy, who's 5, he always ate EVERYTHING, literally EVERYTHING. As long as it didn't move, he pretty much ate it. Few months ago he started picking foods off his plate. One day it was something yellow that he didn't like, next day it was something green. It's annoying and so aggravating... but we pretty much tell him: Eat it, or you're gonna be hungry. But at the same time I do offer him his favorite foods if he eats what's served on his plate.

we have a rule here anything new they have to take 3 bites before they can say they don't like it. My son who is 11 will eat almost everything my 2 year old will lick something and say she doesn't like it but with this new rule she is starting to see that new foods can be good.
