Hi! my son is venturing through his first month of potty training...doing pretty good on an hourly schedule of me assisting him and helping him to sit and pee....question: when do they start running to the potty themselves? If I don't ask and initiate he will go in his pants...does this just take longer with boys or in general? and to understand the signals? He will tell me he is going, but has no interest in running to the potty... any comments would be great!

My daughter has been doing well with training for quite a while, but still isn't telling us much when she has to go. I have to tell her to go try... So I don't think it's a boy thing. I too would like to hear from other about how they got their child to start telling them they need to go. My biggest challenge now is the BM's...She refuses to do that in the toilet. UGH!!! Good luck!

Libby was similar when we were toilet training, so i don't think it's a boy thing. It did just happen she started understanding the sensation and hated being wet, we heaped lots of praise on her when she went in the toilet which she loved she has been fully toilet trained now since july and only 1 bed time accident. Good Luck
