Hi Moms,

Has anyone started planning their baby's first birthday party yet?

Would love to hear your ideas.

I'm from Melbourne in Australia. I noticed that you posted elsewhere that you are from South Africa! Wow, so far away :)
By the way, I LOVE the name Mackenzie and my daughter (Bethany, born 4th Feb 2008) was very close to being called Mackenzie.

Now you got me thinking... well, my daughter is obsessed with Winne the Pooh so maybe I could use that as a theme - potentially dress-up as the various hundred acre wood characters and have a Pooh Bear cake and appropriate decorations etc. I remember coming across a wedding site that was talking about a Pooh Bear themed wedding so I'm sure there would be plenty of ideas around if I start googling. Hmmm... yeah, I'll probably go with that idea.

I am doing a mickey mouse theme as my daughter goes crazy over mickey mouse. I also looked into a company called noah's ark, they come to the house and make bears or other stuffed animals. So each child gets their own stuffed toy. It is relatively cheap from 10 to 30 dollars (canadian) a child. We have alot snow here and it is cold so the party will have to be indoors.

We aren't planning yet...trying to get thru the holidays!! My sister always has just family over and does a simple theme (with 2 girls, there have been a few!).....daisies, butterflies, Dora....anything your child seems interested in. We recently went to a boys party and they did "Wild"....so jungle decorations. Some people we know always invite the childs friends so it's kind of a Play Party Date....the kids can play with all the new toys, or have some of your childs favorites pulled out for the kids to play with if you don't want to mess with opening all the boxes to have access to the new toys. Balloons are always fun, but of course, monitor them closely!!!

Hope this helps!

I can't believe that noone has responded to this yet... I was hoping to get some ideas too :) I think, at this stage, we will just be having a BBQ either at our house or at a nearby park unless I come across any other exciting suggestions.
