Hi, I had the same problem for baby #3, It took me one long month to convert my son to a bottle. I tried every type of bottle, sippy cup, breast milk only, formula, and breast milk with formula and nothing seemed to work. I even had to go back to work and I thought for sure he would eat at daycare, No, he ate maybe 5 oz the whole day. I really believe that it can't be the mom who gives him the bottle at first. I tried to have my husband give the bottle, but he got frustrated with all the crying and it was up to me. What finally worked and it was 3 weeks into it, I had to leave for a business trip and it was my baby was forced to have only the bottle. He took to it pretty well when I wasn't around.
For my daughter, it only took a week to convert over to the bottle. The first day I had my husband give her a bottle, it took 1 1/2 hours of crying but she eventually took a few ounces. The next day it took an hour, then the next day 45 minutes of crying, Each day got better and less crying.
It can be really frustrating when your baby does not take a bottle- but eventually they will or will take a sippy cup.
If I ever have another baby, I will give them a bottle at least once a week after birth. (that is what I did for baby #1) and he had no problem when I finally gave up breast feeding. And why didn't I do that for the next two? I didn't believe it would be that difficult if I waited longer to introduce the bottle, boy was I wrong,

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm going to try the sippy cup. He is 9 months and my plan is to try and have him weaned for sure by 12 months.

We're facing the same issue. For the last 6 weeks, we've offered a sippy cup with formula or water at every meal and snack. He now takes about 1oz at each seating. Not much, but it's something. Now I plan to drop one nursing session every few weeks. I figure that over the next 3 months he'll start relying on the sippy cup more.
