My son was born at 29 weeks, he is MAYBE 21 lbs so dont worry about it, his doctor isnt concerned. As long as there gaining and not losing weight there isnt anything to worry about. My kid wears a size 2 shoe and 6 month pants.

My daughter is a premie as well. When she was born she weighed only 1 pd 10 oz. She is 19 months now and she weighs approx 22 pds too. For her to be this age I have been told so far that its actually good that by the time she reaches 3 she will catch up and be as normal as a normal born baby. I recommend you not to worry because premature babies always catch up.

My little girl is 18months and weights only 21 1/2lbs. She was a full term baby with no complications. If you are nervous talk to your doctor about it. I talked to my peditrician. My little girl is only in the 10th percentile on the growth chart but she has maintained their and she has always put some weight on when we go in.

My daughter (19mths on monday) is just over 23 pounds. If your doctor isn't worried, I wouldn't be either. Some kid's grow slower. Mine is low on the weight chart but high in the height chart. My only frustration is finding pants that don't fall to her ankles but are long enough to reach her feet! lol And she eats like a fiend! And runs and plays like a Tazmanian Devil!

My daughter was 22 pounds and 31 inches at her 18 month checkup. Three weeks before we had her in the ER for a severe allergic reaction and she was only 20 pounds. She's bumped up and down the scale (23lbs at most) over the last few months and I have a feeling it's mainly due to teething. When she's in the "throws" of it she barely eats - usually only wants mama's milk and would stay attached all day if I let her. Besides still mainly being breastfed, she's a picky eater (crunchy and cheesy). Thankfully her doc isn't concerned. She's healthy, happy and VERY active. Walking before 10 months and now climbing like the world is her own personal playground. She has no fear!

my dr. says it's more important to look at the rate of growth as opposed to the actual number. as long as she's growing at a 'normal' rate (my son was always at a lot percentile of weight for his age) but he showed me on a graph that he was growing the same shape of curve as avergage in his age group. as long as she's eating, developing, and acting well for her age then you shouldn't really worry about that.

WOW my daughter is 21lbs. She is in the 90th percentile on height though. She's 32 inches tall. My little gal is very active though and never stops moving. She was born at 6lbs 7oz. My doctor doesn't seem too concerned though. She eats AND drinks formula, yes she won't give it up!! I've been trying to ween her off of it and just on to milk. She's a dairy queen.

My daughter is 20lbs, she was a preemie born at 31 weeks the doctors are watching her weight every month due to the fact she has not gained weight in 6 months not sure if it is due to her heart condition or she is a picky eater- and does not like milk.

just went to the doctor on the 20th. my son is 18 mo old and is 18lb 12oz. he is 31.5 in tall. he has always been in the lower 3% for weight and wasn't born early. he weighed in at 5lbs 2.25oz and left the hospital at 4lbs 14 oz. our doctor isn't worried about his weight since he is slowly putting it on just at his own rate and says that he is meeting all his milestones and doing some early. he is a happy healthy baby just a little small. i was 3 years old before i hit 25lbs. she thinks he is just going to follow in mommy's footsteps.

My little one is 18mths and is only 9kgs which is about 19 lbs. She was one month early and is a little shorty can wear 9mth old clothes (which is great as it saves $$$ ) she is tracking along nicely on the graph just in the lower 3% thru plunket. She is healthy and thats all that really matters at the end of the day, plus she is taking after my side of the family as we are all shortys (females anyway)

I have B/G/G triplets born 7w early at 32w5d. My son is the heaviest at 24.6 pounds (4lbs5oz), dd2 is next at 22.6pounds(4lbs3oz) and dd1 is 20 pounds (3lbs10oz). Everyone walks and has for about 6 mos. Language has been delayed some, but I don't know how much is due to prematurity and how much to multiples. You can check the weight and height charts on cdc.gov (under life stages infants). Make sure you select the correct sex as they do vary. The littlest walked first. They aren't really petite as they are hitting at least 75% for height across the board, but the weights are a lot less. Try not to worry.

All kids come in different shapes and sizes. My daughter was 17 lbs 8 oz last week and she will be 18 months on the 19th. She eats good and is very happy so that is all that matters. She is off the charts because she is so small. The doctors keep running tests on her and so far everything has come back okay. I think she is just small.

My daughter turned 17 months old on February 26th she weighs 22lbs fully dressed. We go to the dr the end of august but last time we were there was for her 15 month check up and she was in the 25% for her weight and 10th for her height. (im 5'3 and dads 5'8). She weighed 8lbs 5oz when she was born too. now my son who is 6 months is just a few pounds shy of her! they share diapers and everything! He was also an 8 pound baby. It goes to show how diff kids can be! Although he is started to slow down in his height too...78% for weight and 38 for his height!lol

My boy is huge compared to many of you, lol, but both me and my hubby are quite tall, Cole was 8lb 9oz at birth and he was 4 weeks prem and is now at 17mths 29lb 7oz, but on contrast my sister has a baby who is 3mths older that cole and she is only 22lb, my sister is only 5ft. I did speak to my health visitor about this as my son is in aged 2yrs clothes already and size 5 shoes, but she just said its all about the size of the parents. So I would not worry too much about it, as long as your baby is fit and healthy thats all that matters

My girls are both 19 lbs. They, too, were preemies. The dr. said that as long as they are on the growth chart and eating well that they are ok (we are in like the 10th percentile). Just voice your concerns to your doctor. He will let you know if there is anything to worry about.

Sounds like everyone here has the same things to say. My daughter is the same. Now almost 18 months and just about 20 lbs. She is tall and skinny and so she wears 9 month summer clothes (the same ones I put on her last summer). My Dr. said that since she has stayed on the growth curve she is fine. She continues to increase her weight at every visit.
I was only 28 lbs when I was 4 years old, and 60 lbs when I started high school. Now I'm 5'9" tall and about average for weight. I figure she will catch up when she is ready.

My daughter was a preemie too (born at 34 weeks), and now she's barely 19 lbs at 17 months. I just folded her laundry and was shocked to see how many of her shirts are still size 6 months! Her weight gain has slowed down a bit since she started walking, but her doctor isn't worried as long as she's eating plenty. I'm only 5'2" and her dad is 6'4", so she'll probably be taller than me by 3rd grade, but for now, she's just a little peanut.
