My 16 month old just the other day went from loving to get her hair washed to screaming as if I was pouring acid over her head. Nothing has changed in our routine and she used to giggle when I poured the water over her head. Any one experiencing this or has any helpful hints.

I Had good luck this past bath time with a shower. My daughter has always loved showering with me and now that she is bigger I can have her stand under the water to wash and rinse and this worked out real well. She still loves to play in the tub and doesn't mind having her body washed its just the wetting her hair and rinsing the body that we have difficulty with. For those having trouble all around maybe a fun washcloth might help make washing fun, we haven't used it yet but we have a washcloth that looks like a hand puppet.

I too am facing the same with my 16month. He wasnt always happy with washing his hair but bathtime was never difficult. I always let him play in the smaller tub of bubble bath for a while before washing him. He enjoyed that play time. These days he just plays a bit in the tub and when he seems me with the towel ready to wash him, he tries to jump out of the tub. He starts crying when I apply soap on him and more loudly when I shampoo on his head.

I too am not really sure what to do. I try making it a game, by spraying water on his feet and hands, sometimes he calms a bit. Towel drying his head is another nightmare. But peace prevails only after he is dry. I too await for some tips.

We still use the little mesh baby ramp in the bathtub for when we wash Jasmin's hair. She lays back on it and is super calm during the process.

she loves the getting clean and washing part both body and hair. for some reason she just hates to have the water poured on her. just a few days ago she was giggling while i did it now she is literally trying to climb out of the tub if she even sees the cup. i am thinking about trying to lay her down in the water and wet her hair that way and see if she responds any better to that. Thanks for everyones advise

My son has always loved baths but hated having his hair washed. Recently we've started letting him 'wash his own on hair'. We do the main part but let him put water over his head and help rub the shampoo in. This seems be helping and hair wash time is a lot less traumatic!

My daughter is doing the exact same thing! She has always loved the bath including getting her hair washed and all of a sudden you would think we were torturing her when we wash her hair. I thought it was because she had an ear infection and even though we were being careful maybe some water was getting in her ears. But the infection is gone and she is still doing it. Let me know if you find something that works.

my daughter went through a similar stage, except she hated being in the tub all together. she would pitch a fit when my husband or i put her in the tub. what i found that worked for us was to get in the tub with her. i would get in the bathtub and hold her her while my husband gave her her bath. i only had to do this a couple of times before she settled back down in the tub. you may try that, or bringing her in the shower with you. Rhayne has grown to love the feeling of the shower.
