Does anyone make their own baby food. If so, do you have any recipies you could share? I love making new and interesting combinations for my little man.

Hi! I have experimented with making my little one baby food....a lot of times ill just take what we've had for dinner add some chicken or beef stock and put it in the blender. I also make a lot of fruit like applesauce and peaches and pears. I found this website and it has a lot of cool recipes too. http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/ Hope this helps!

Hi! My baby turned 9 months a week ago. She basically eats what we have for dinner. For a bit of variety I will sometimes add a teaspoon of marmite or cheese spread and/or grated cheese to veggies and mash. She really loves that!

I have a magic bullet - and just throw everything i eat in there and mix it up real well - usually i will go to the store and see what they (baby food jars) are feeding babies this age and will go with that.

I agree, wholesomebabyfood.com is one of my favorite sites! I have also experimented with certain spices like cinnamon, nutmeg and garlic, my 9 mo old loves a little extra flavor in her foods!

I LOVE cooking for my little guy! I've got two great cookbooks... one is by Annabelle Carmel & the other is called 'Blender Babyfood'. I use them all the time & have started improvising on my own too. Today I made shepherd's pie & made some for him (just pureed it). When I make risotto for us, I make some for him too - just without all the spices & cheese.

I haven't started the self feeding nor the food cubes. I have been cooking, blending, straining, and freezing into food cubes: pears, apples, sweet potatoes, green beans, peas and we have given bananas and avocado mashed. I am about to start meats/proteins and was not sure what to start with and how best to cook and serve it, any ideas?

I use a baby food mill and feed our baby everything we eat. I have been amazed that he will eat just about anything, even grandmas chili! When there are more leftovers than I know we will be able to eat, I send it through the food mill and then divide it into portions and freeze it in zip lock bags.

Yes he loves avocado, he will eat anything! I am very lucky I know lots of kids his age that are very picky. He eats combos all the time. You could try mashing avocado with banana if your baby doesnt take to avocado well.

A good tip for making combos on your own is see what the jars at the store are. That way you at least have a jumping off point. My little one will be 9 months soon...but I started solids later and haven't been good about introducing new things every week...so we haven't even talked about combo foods yet!! Have you tried giving him avacado?

I started making my own baby food when Anna was 6 months... She wasn't a big fan. My mother-in-law told me to stop stressing about it and give her what we were eating... worked like a charm! She had Enchiladas and Banana cake last night! :-) Btw, Jenn - mine was born on the 7th too! :-) 5:17pm! She too wants to eat everything herself! makes a mess, but has fun and eats lots!

Mine just turned 9 months and he is doing the same thing..I must say he loves his food there is nothing that he wont eat and sometimes I need new combos to make him. I also make and freeze the food also its better for him plus its organic and it saves loads of money.

I could never get my son to eat meat so I cook my meat with a bit of water so that there is dripping and add the dripping to mashed potatoes and freeze them in an ice-cube tray. That was he gets the protein and theres plenty made up and frozen so its easier to handel if we travel. Plus a cube is a serving so I know how many serving hes getting.

I make a meatloaf out of ground turkey with every vegetable I can find it in, finely diced. I then freeze it in slices. When he is ready to eat it I defrost a slice (usually 2 meals since he is still so little) crumble it on his highchair and let him go at it.

I also will just chop or mash what ever we are eating for dinner.

Hi I don't really make my own baby food I just give my little one anything we eat just in little peices. LIke mashed potatoes, chicken and peas...i take the peas out of the skin. and she eats it fine. She is also in the stage where she wants to feed herself with her hands and spoon...she is crazy. So basically whateever we have for dinner is what she has....Have fun!
