My son just turned 1 and his hair is getting in his eyes all the time. I push it to the side and move on. My husband keeps hounding me (lovingly) to get his hair cut. I am not emotionally ready for another transition. We just had his Bday, were weaning, begining to walk. I just can't handle any more... Help

I'm jealous of all of you. My son turns one tomorrow and isn't even close to needing a haircut yet. He has a nice mohawk look - most of his hair is on the top. I think my husband wants to be the first one to cut his hair, but I will protest since his plan is to just buzz it. It will definitely be curly once it's all in and I don't ever want him to lose that. My thinking is he won't need one until at least 18 months, probably even 2, though the top can be pretty unruly already. I wish it were even all over, though the mohawk look at this age is cute (just as long as he doesn't have one still at 13 or 14). :-)

My son just got his first hair cut yesterday.  I suggest that you go to a hair dresser who has a lot of experience in first hair cuts.  Our hair dresser does so we had him trimmed up in about five minutes while he was playing with a favorite toy in the chair all by himself.  He did wonderful :D

Hi, my little boy's hair grows so fast so by 9 months old he'd had his first hair cut! I was really nervous about doing it myself as I still have nightmares about the bowl haircuts my mum used to give me as a kid! I took him to my usual hairdresser and she was brillant with him. She even saved some of his hair for me as a keepsake!

my son is turning one this friday and he had his first hair cut on the 5th. he was amazingly quiet and managable during the process (which is very surpising given the fact that he neva sits still!) he looks very cute with his haircut and we'll be doing this regularly from now on!

I just got my son's hair cut on Valentine's Day! I was attached to his little curls in the back, but I decided it was time. They just cut a little bit off, so it doesn't curl anymore and he has a cute boy cut now. If your not ready for a full hair cut, how about trimming just what is in his eyes.

Well my son is 3 1/2 but had his first haircut and about 10 months (my husband was tired of hearing strangers tell me how cute my little girl was). We took him to my husbands barber and he only used the scissors for most of my sons haircuts until he was like 2. My daughter whom is the feb. baby just turned one a week ago and has had 3 haircuts. It really is pretty painless for everyone involved, but i am sure your little guy couldnt care either way.

My son could've had his first haircut at 5 months.  I trimmed his bangs quite a few times when it seemed like it was getting in his eyes.   Once he turned 1 we found a place that only cuts children's hair.  It was a great experience for Ethan.  He got to sit in a toy car and watch Seasame Street while the stylist cut his hair with scissors.

oh my little guy went in a couple weeks ago he will be one on the 25th it only took like 10 min he sat on my lap and was really good(he is a wild man)! We did not use the clippers i just had her use scissors. It really was a good experiance! I did make my husband come in to and it worked great cuz when he needed to look down my husband got on the floor and talked to him. i think u should try it if the hair is annoying u.Don't forget your camera

My boy has the same issue (strangely, the girl's hair is less unruly!). My husband actually asked his barber about going for a first visit with the boy, but the barber said it is best to wait until the child is at least 18 months, preferably 2 years because they get scared of the vibration of the clippers and also the whole experience of going to the shop, people looking at them etc.  So once the boy is a year old this Sunday, I'll lightly cut his bangs and at the back of the neck with scissors and we'll leave the barber shop for another while.
