Some people have told me my son can start preschool and others are saying he has to wait until he's 4. When can a child start preschool or is it different in every state?

My son started a couple days after he turned 3, but that was because he needs speech help. He had testing done through the school, and they assigned him an IEP. But had he not needed the help, we would have had to pay for him to go to preschool, at age 3 or age 4. In NH though, they can start at 3 if you want to enroll them in a private program or a public school run program like my son attends.

It may be different state to state. I know our pre-k program for Alabama is 4. They can go to Headstart at 3 yrs old.
