You really don't have to bother with the store bought baby foods.... All you have to do is dice up some fresh veggies, or buy a bag of store bought veggies, and steam them for 20 minutes. Allow them to cool a bit, and put some down on your baby's tray. Let her figure it out on her own. That's how my daughter eats all her veggies! On her own!

Another idea could be to give her sandwiches without the crust (vegimite,cheese spread, jam) in triangles and let her expolre them and see if she eats them. She can suck on them or chew them that way she is learning self help

thank you for all your helpful advice, all the health visitor had 2 say was give her cereal(which i kno r full of salt). i have never heard of gerber but following ur advice im sure 2 do a search for it.

Kim is exactly right. My son is 11 months old and has been on table food for about 2 1/2 months now. He absolutely hated all that stage 3 baby food. I think the combination of chunky and puree just throws them off. They try to swallow it like the other stuff and don't chew at all; so they end up choking on it. The Gerber diced carrots were the first thing we tried, and mashed potatoes. I put the potatoes in little piles and let him pick them up on his own, as well as the carrots. Green beans are great, as long as they're soft enough, and banana sliced and then quartered works wonderfully too. Have you tried any of the gerber puffs yet?

LOL...that's funny. You know, my daughter was the same, but what I have discovered with her is she just doesn't like baby foods or for me to feed her! She would gag on the lumpier baby foods also, but I found that when I just put the foods in bite sized pieces on her highchair tray, she chows down! She'll eat almost anything I give her...and she only has 2 teeth. See how your girl does with well cooked pasta and carrots...all the gerber graduates diced pieces such as diced apples, diced carrots, diced pears, diced peaches...cut up strawberries into small pieces, bananas into small pieces (I slice and then cut slices in half), clementines (it's tedious, but I take the skin off of each wedge and make them into bite size pieces so she can pick up and eat), also cherries (again, it's tedious, but I pit them and peel the skin off since she doesn't have but 2 teeth)....pretty much everything you eat, she can eat (with exceptions like peanut butter, eggs, etc., which your doctor can tell you). Give it a go letting her feed herself soft table foods...I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. They like to be independent! (-:
