After his 1 yr checkup the dr said it was fine to switch him to whole milk, well, after a few sips he shoves the bottle or sippy cup away. He notices the difference right away ! How do I get him to drink it ? Help please :)

Have you tried soy milk? My son likes that better than regular milk.

I did the mixing with formula over 2 weeks, then gave her 2%milk barely warmed and gradually lowered amount of time in microwave over about 1-2 weeks. My daughter now drinks cold 2% milk. Now to get rid of bottles.

I had the same problem with my son. I started trying to mix the whole milk and his formula around 11 months. Each week I would add more milk, less formula. When we got to 1/3 formula, 2/3 milk he wouldn't drink it. I ended up switching to Soy Milk and he loves it. There are so many different things you can try, you just have to find what makes him happy. You can try chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, etc...That was what my pediatrician recommended. If he still won't take any of those, there are formulas geared toward older babies that have less calories, but still that similar taste. Similac Go and Grow is one kind. Good luck and just be patient!

My doctor told me about a recent longitudinal study of whole milk vs 2 percent milk on development of babies and there was NO difference found. Maybe 2 percent will taste better? LOL But the half n half idea is probably your best bet.

my sister  inlaw had the same troubles she only made half the bottel milk and the other hale formula so that he still got the taste he took the bottel after that , she just reduced the amount od formula after awhile, hope that helps.

That is my hope...my daughter is also strictly breastfeeding and we have started the weaning process within the last week.  She isn't fighting me on it but she also won't drink the milk.  I'm hoping she will eventually start to drink it.

Since I have been breastfeeding my daughter, I'm having the same issues with her not liking it very much.  I offer it every afternoon before or after her nap...sometimes both!  It just depends on how thirsty she is on how much she sips on it.  I think the key for us mommies who have strictly bf is to keep offering it...they'll eventually drink it, right?

Mixing the formula and the milk is good advice. It's taken about a month of mixing and now my daughter freely takes milk.

Some little ones don't like it straight away. Have you tried:

Mixing half his formula (if that is what he was on) and half whole milk.

Warming it

Adding it to cereal so that he can gradually get used to it with food as well

My daughter and son have both switched over really easily but my son was a little bit fussy for the first day or two so we mixed it with his formula now we have finished the last of the formula and he is not having it again.

Did the health vistior say anything about stopping using a bottle?

i am sticking with formula...i found a toddler one at walmart here in ontario...its meant for over 12 months old and this way if she goes through a time frame of not drinking i dont waste it cause she loves it...and its vanilla flavoured to boot...13 bucks a can...

I'm also transitioning my 1 year old daughter Anaiyah to whole milk. She didn't like the taste either. I'm mixing her formula with the whole milk right now (6oz of formula with 2oz milk), and every week I plan to increase the whole milk and decrease the formula until its solely whole milk. Try that and see what happens!

That's pretty much what we did.  We started making the formula cooler so the temp wouldn't be as big of an issue.  Then we started mixing the 2, which we started at 11 months and by 11 1/2 months he was on whole milk only.  He was a lot easier than our first, who we finally lured in with chocolate milk, which is still his favorite drink.  Our doctor told us that if they get thirsty enough, they'll finally drink.  He categorized that as part of "tuff love."
