my son had them put in at 11 months they are MIRACLE WORKERS. It is really hard when they do the surgery b/c you cant be in there. I cried in the waiting room and called my mom cause she went thru the same thing with me. But it really is the best. Just buy ear plugs for bath time. make sure they say for kids. i found some at target.

Hi my son Jaykeb suffers from narrow ear canals, glue ear and constant ear infections. He is 8 years old and has had 3 lots of tubes. They are well worth getting it is hard to see them when they go under anesetic as they just go limp and when they wake up they are usually slightly distressed for a little while. But trust me it is well worth it as the damage that constant ear infections can do to his ears is much worse, it can cause hearing loss,scar tissue in the ear, tone deafness, speech problems, headaches. Good luck and please I know how hard it is Ive been through 5 surgeries with my 8 year old and one with my 16 month old.

Before my son had his tubes he was getting ear infections all the time. After they were put in he never had another ear infection!! He's three now and they just fell out. We still haven't had a problem with his ears. So, just remember it's worth it. The hardest part for me was when he woke up after the surgery. He cried for about an hour, but then he was fine and would wouldn't have known anything had happened.

hi, don't worry, my daughter got some put in a couple of weeks ago. it's a bit scary watching them go under but it's not that bad. the worst thing for me was not being able to give her any food after 7am and she went in at 2.30pm. it was upsetting to hear her crying from hunger. within half an hour Anna was up and running around like nothing happened. she was a bit grumpy the next day but there was almost an instant improvement in her hearing. they are well worth getting.
