My son was born Feb. 23rd, and has been a great sleeper for the last 4-5 months.. until now. This past week he has been waking up multiple times throughout the night, sometimes just wanting to be patted on the back a little bit and other times screaming his head off for what appears to be no reason. Has anyone else gone through this? The only thing that's changed recently is a new breakfast cereal I tried out for two days. He went through a mega growth spurt right at his 9 month mark so I don't think that's what's going on.. Any advice?

Yes, my son was born Feb. 28th and initially I thought that he was teething (he is), but that wasn't the problem. I took him to the doctor for his 9 mth check up and was informed by his pediatrician that he had an ear infection. Now, he is sleeping much better and less cranky now that he has been put on medication for the ear infection.

Thanks 4 all the suggestions!! I give her dinner before bed and was hoping that it would help but it doesn't...she doesn't seem to be hungry, i think its more of a separation anxiety. I really hope that she gets over it soon:-)

Mine did the same thing. I think it is that at this age they start to get separation anxiety and they just want to see you. I would go in for one minute pat his back and then walk out going in every ten minutes. The first night he cried for two hours, the next night for 1 hour and the third night for 5 minutes and now he is over it. It's hard and it doesn't always happen so fast, but it works. They go through this again at around 18 months too.

My daughter was sleeping through the night for months and then started waking up multiple times a night and the only thing that we could figure out was that she had gotten hungrier. Giving her something in the tummy before bed helped. She wasn't going through a growth spurt or anything, just her appetite had increased. Can't say that is necessarily what is going on for you, but if nothing else works you might give it a try.
