HI, sorry for late response. My friend's daughter has had her tonsils out at barely 3. The Dr wanted to wait until after she was 4, but the infections were too bad. I think it's for the anaesthetic, it's more tolerable in an older child, and a bit dangerous in a younger child. My other friend, whose 2yo has had 2 sets of grommets put in took a scarey long time to come out of the anaesthetic the last time around.

Sorry, had mine out at 7 so no idea how a 3 year old will react to it. But, I will say that ice cream did not taste all that great after. You know, the one time parents allow their kids to have anything cold they want as a little reward... too bad it tastes funky at that point.

I got mine out at 21 years old and it was HELL.. Horrible! From what the dr told me the younger they are the better they cope. At least she can get it done now and be babied and held by you than waiting till she's older like I was and all I wanted was to be held lol! Mine caused me lots of problems as an adult and I've lost many jobs because I would be sick every couple months and stay horribly sick for like a week. I know you have to be worried, I would be to but at least at this point she'll have your comfort to get her thru.
