im in hospital now in labour 4 cms dilated been in labour since 4 so hoping things hurry up now.x

Well all, just a quick note as I sit here holding my 1 day old baby girl!!! :)
Emily Jane was born Sunday morning at 6:42am, 7lbs 1oz, 20inches. She surprised us all by flipping on me and coming out breech.
We were still able to do it at home w/out medication, and I didn't even tear!!!! I sit here for the first time ever post-partum w/out stiches. Its an amazingly comfortable experience. :)
Well, it is hard to type and hold an infant at the same time. Good luck to you and look they do come out! :)

Thanks, Shannon! I worked this weekend hoping all the walking would help and I'm still waiting. I'm getting impatient..and so is my family and husband. I can't wait until Taylor is here!

Yeah, I know. I've had problems in the past and they don't want me to go too far past my due date. Walk? I'm trying. I'm a Nurse and I work 12 hour days and put miles on at work. It's not working, trust me! Everyone at work thought I'd be delivering by now. (including me!) we'll see what they say on Wednesday.

Cleaned the floor...and no luck. I guess he just needs more time. Thanks for all the advice! I do want what is best for my baby and if he needs more time than he can have it. Its mostly just me getting antsy...I don;t sleep and have pretty terrible back pain, today was my last day of work so maybe taking it easy will help that. I guess I'll just sit back and try to enjoy the last days (or possible weeks) of being pregnant, I do know that once he's born I will miss those little (and big) kicks from inside. That has been the best...I love feeling him move around in there...it always makes me smile =)

As is probably very obvious I don't choose to do medication w/my births. I did have an epidural w/my 2nd birth and hating the whole process of it. Not that the epi was done poorly I just hating being taken away from the birth experience like that.
That being said, everyone has the right to choose their own birth experience. I will say that pitocin is not a great choice for you or the baby. Pit does have it's risks that you need to be aware of. I'm getting my information from a book I just happen to have on hand called Gentle Birth Choices by Barbara Harper, RN. It's a very pro-natural book, but also has good information for hospital goers as well.
If you choose to induce w/PIT you have a much higher rate for complications arising that will lead to more and more interventions from the OB (epidural, more PIT, a much higher rate of C-Section, episiotomy), postpartum hemorrhage if the PIT is used exclusively to induce labor (not just used to augment). Jaundice is more common in PIT newborns then unmedicated newborn births. And honestly just b/c it's your EDD it doesn't make it the actual correct time for birth. It's an ESTIMATED due date, your baby may need more time, and that's okay - normally up to 42 weeks gestation.
I'm on a soap box I know, I put myself up there quite easily. *laugh* I just hate OB's forcing birth on us for their own connivence. Don't get me wrong, I love/loved my OB for my first 2 pregnancies. But I love my midwife so much more.

I'm actually contracting right now, and am expecting to have this little bundle sometime tonight. I'm not regular yet, but the contractions are good. My midwife knows to expect my call later on today! :)
I'm super excited! My pool is ready, have plans for the kids and all is set. Now just have to get these contractions closer together. I'm planning on cleaning my kitchen.
The only thing I've ever done to help labor start would be to walk (anywhere at anytime for as long as you feel fit), sit on my yoga ball to open myself up and, of course, sex. I've heard bad things about castor oil so I don't recommend that. But also, like Sarah said, anytime you're on all fours is good to help labor along. And if you scrub your floors now, you won't have to worry about it later! :)

these are the options ive heard might set u off spicy food,hot baths,sex,walking up hills or up and down stairs and the last one which set me of with my first child is on all fours cleaning the kitchen floor u can always give it ago ive been having bad contrations on and off for about a week and period pain type in my back wonder how long it will be for me.

Sounds like maybe your just worried that things went so smoothly last time that you expect something to go wrong this time, but don't worry or put too much though into it, try to stay calm and relaxed that will be best for you and the baby. I'm sure things will go just fine, maybe even great...last time only a 6hr labor =) Best of luck to you & baby!

I'm due on Thursday the 12th with my first and I want so badly to go into labor, I have had strong contractions and bad back pain, but I'm only 1cm. I am so exhausted and my ankles and feet are constantly swelling =/ My doc set up another appt for Friday the 13th, he said if I make it to the appt we can set a date for inducing, however I have heard mixed things about induction and am not really sure that is the way I wanna go!? I just want what's best for the baby, but I also want to be finished already. Any ideas on what can help induce naturally?

I am not due until Feb 25th but I am having a planned cesarean on Wednesday February 11th at 0715 in the morning and am VERY anxious about it!! I labored for a long time with both of my boys and ended up having a section with my second so we are going to avoid the whole labor thing this time.

You are probably anxious this time cause you know what to expect...try to just relax as much as you can and know this, second time labors are usually quicker and just keep telling yourself how worth it it will be when it is all over. Don't stress about the things you cannot control, take it minute by minute and you will have your precious little baby to hold and love...good luck to you and take care.

I'm also due on Friday. So far, I'm not having much luck at my doctor's appointments. I'm barely dilated and they said if she doesn't come by Friday, I'm going to be induced the following Monday. I'm very anxious and impatient, too. I think that it's because this is my first. It seems as if it's taking forever to get here!
