Anyone had neck/back problems after having baby/epidural?

i just had my son 7 mnths ago and im having severe neck pains. i hve never had a problem with my neck until they gave me the epidurol. i must have complained to all the nurses about 100 times that my neck hurt really bad. they all told me the epidurol would not make my neck hurt. well here i am 7 mnths later and i cant move my head side to side up or down with severe pain.. and i have a lump on my neck that seems to be getting bigger

I had the most terrible neck pains 2 days after I gave birth to my daughter, I thougth the neck pains would kill me, atleast that's how I felt and the doctors said it was due to the Epidural, the nurses said I wasn't supposed to move my head sideways for atleast 24 hrs, they told me that when the pains started, not before! Now I have these severe neck pains which makes the prospect of wearing a neck collar quite appealing. I cant' recall if I had more than one shot of Epidural. My daughter is 6 1/2months old and this pain sometimes threatens to overshadow the joy that I have. I am definitely seeking medical attention.

Neck and back pains are highly possible if you have more than one shot of an epidural. I also had my baby through C-section and luckily the doctor got it right the first time. I only experienced pain just for a couple of days after a came back from the hospital, thereafter they were gone. My son is now 19 months and I have never felt anything. I suppose if one is stil experiencing those pains, it is crucial to get a specialist doctor to have a look at your spine cause surely this can cause some damage in the long run when you get older. My sister who also had an epidural (3 shots), she felt heavy pains when she came home in such a way that she couldnt take care of her baby. She got her spine checked out by a specialist and got a bit of treatment for the pain, after about two weeks, the pain was gone and she has never experienced that pain again.

Sounds like you've strained your neck when watching your baby feeding. I did this with my twins, didn't have an epidural so its not that for me xxx

I just had my 4th and, up till now, I never had any troubles. This time he had a hard time with the epidural and it took him a while to get it right. I have had lower back pain since then and I had a huge bruise where the epidural was put in, too. My baby is only a week and a half old now so I hope as it all heals the pain will go away, but I am glad to know I am not the only one. Good luck!

Oh wow i guess I'm the same as Bethany cause mine was a emergery c-section to with my twins one of them wanted to get there feet out fast and they were 10 weeks early and mine hurts where the needle went in and Bethany mine twin girls are 19 months old too

my first c section was great had no dramas afterwards at all but with the 2nd one i get neck pain alot,and my back where i had the epidural(took him 3 go's to get it right) get more of a tingly pins and needles feeling,my daughter is 19mths old and i still get it,im a bit concerned as we are planning to try for another one soon which will make it 3 c sections all up,so im hoping it aint gonna make it worse!

oh yeah. Being a Mum is bad enough for your back, but a massive needle into your spine to start off with is just asking for it. I had an emergency caesar and an epidural for that (luckily not literally an "emergency" just an "she's not going anywhere, ever")

Funnily enough, when my back hurts, it's right where that needle went in, and Charlotte is 19 mths now. It's not to often now, but that's where it aches when it does.

I'm not having that much of pain in my neck but once in awhile i have sharp pain in my lower back where the epidural was put in i was also taking to a other mom and she had the same thing right after having the epidual. i argree that i think that is the cause of the pain good luck with every thing

i already have back and neck problems but after i had my epidural i had severe pain in my back where it was done for a few months, the guy that did also had to do it 3 times so that could be the prob, but my dr kept a eye on it to make sure my spine didnt get infected and it ended up healing fine! best of luck to you!
