congratz mama, happy to know ur baby walks already. mine is not at all, but its ok..just wait. fyi my baby can talk...and its make him differ to other his age baby....just enjoy ur and baby time ma.

My boy was born 18th of Feb., he started part time walking at 11th mth, Full time at 13th mth and he is running around everywhere. He does stay one place.He doesn't like sitting down.

It's only been a week, if he's started taking steps then I'd say he's not far off walking.
My daughter didn't sit up til she was 7 1/2 months and didn't crawl til 8 1/2 months and her friend of the same age was much earlier. People used to ask "is she sitting up yet?" oe "is she crawling yet?" and it was frustrating, they'd look at me as if something was wrong. My daughter started walking at 10 months though and her same aged friend was much later. So every child is different, don't feel pressured by other people.

Nope, she walks around pushing a stroller, she has only taken a few steps a couple of times. You dont have to worry until 18 mo if they are not walking.

Dont worry about it hun. I was worried about my son not walking and i think he started when he was about 12 and a half months. Its natural that boys are slower than girls so some boys take longer to walk. And believe me wait til he starts walking and you will be glad that he waited so long to start doing it.

At least he's trying. I wouldn't worry too much. What I did for my little girl (also born feb 17th) who never crawled was hold her hand while she walked around. She seemed to like that a lot. She started off just like your little boy. Taking one or two steps, then about a wk or two later she took off on her own. It's great that he claps at his achievement. If you don't already, you should also do that to encourage him. Every time my baby does something good I clap for her, then she feels more like she can do it. Don't worry. Sounds to me like he's making an effort. He'll get it.

Dont be concerned!! my daughter has yet to take just one step!!! crawling is faster i guess!! she is very laid back never started crawling til 11 months!

My daughter is almost 16 months. She just started taking steps, she will take 4 or 5 at a time. Although she will go much further with a hand to hold lol. She has Developmental Hip Dysplasia and we got done with a Hip Spica cast in October. I agree, its hard when people ask if she is walking yet and then look confused when I say that shes not.
He will get there soon. Just remember to keep encouraging him :)

mine was born on the 16th feb 09 and took a few steps i think around jan but didnt really start walking properly until march april. i was getting a little anxious but was told that little one can start as young as 8 months but the ave is 18months as long as they are pulling them selves up or walking along furniture i wouldn't worry. try gymbaroo its ap rogram especially designed for motor skills and coordination. i would especially do if a bum scooter as crawling plays major role writing and reading coordination and concentration at school

I know how you feel. Every time I ring my parents they think I'm calling to say Alex, my little girl is walking. She ahs taken a few steps but she would much rather bum around. I'm not too worried about it though. They will walk when they are ready and the worst thing you can do is compare them to other children their age. Don't worry and enjoy being able to sit down cause whne they start walking we can cancel our gym memberships. lol

My daughter Arwen still got no interest in walking, she will hold my hand and walk but thats it and have to stop myself from getting stress about it. I think back to my 15 year old son who was walking around everywhere at 9 months. But hopefully it wont be long before she running everywhere fingers crossed.

My son was born 2/20 and he started walking at 14 months .. Your doctor will not worry about it until 18 months and neither should you.... trust me enjoy it while it lasts :-))

My little girl started walking early around 9 1/2 months. But I am sure that your little baby will be off running around soon. Those beginning stages of walking are so adorable! Treasure those times before they can walk. Soon you will be chasing them all over the house! :)

My 15mth old daughter is walking since 13 mths. She made an attempt at 12 mths but it didnt really kick off till 13 mths. She is flying now. She is in to everything which has led to a few tumbles which can be very worrying. So for now enjoy the peace cos believe me u wont have any once they start walking.

Our son, born on the 6th, started walking the week before he turned 14 mos. But he's hardly talking yet...immediately after he took his first steps, he took a hard fall into a church pew and stopped walking for another 2 weeks, like he was afraid of getting hurt again. Now he walks and runs and falls all over the place.

dont worry my son was born on the 19th of feb and he is doing the same. He will take a few steps then sit down and start to crawl because it is faster. Im not worrying, children all develop at their own pace. My son has quite a few words i think children either walk first or talk first, im sure your son is the
same.

I shouldn't worry too much; Dominic was born 25th Feb - He can walk round furniture but can only stand alone when he doesn't realise it. He'll walk just holding onto a finger for support but doesn't have the balence or the confidence to walk yet. Sometimes larger babies take longer to walk, someone I know their child wouldn't walk till they had little boots which supported their ankles. 18 mnths is not an unusual time for children to start walking and so when people say things just say he's developing in other areas and will walk when he's ready!

lol i know what you mean bella will be 15mo on feb20 and wont even take 1 step on her own she insist on holding onto both my hands if i take 1 away she gives up and just sits

My son was born Feb 16 and he isnt walking yet. He stands and claps for himself too, but refuses to walk. Im just getting tired of carrying him lol. :) Good luck im sure hell walk soon

i doubt there is anything to worry about. Mine is doing the same. Though he isnt even taking a step unless holding onto something. They will do it when they are ready. My first was walking against things by 4 months, my second wasnto doing that till 12 month. it all depends on them. Whenever someone asks me if he is walking yet.. I say " well his legs work fine, but his bum is lazy" it gets a laugh out of everyone. You would have more reson to be worried if he wasnt walking at all and not again furniture. He is just taking his time.

Harry was off at 9 months now he runs about all over. Climbing is now a real issue for us. He actually moves toys and furniture to enable him to climb on things to reach higher platforms. He is a scamp. It would be blooming marvelous if he wasn't walking yet haha I'm PERMENANTLY knackered!!! He has lots of friends a similar age and none of them are fully walking yet - the next youngest is 12 months today and has just started pulling himself up, then there are 2 that are 11 months who are cruising nicely and 2 at 10 months one of which is a really fast crawler and one is still happy rolling about. All babies are sooooooooooo different.

About two and a half weeks ago my little girl took her first few wobbly steps and now she's walking (somewhat unsteadily) everywhere! She just started doing it but it was when she was around slightly older children, she just copied. If you're able to why not get together with a few other mums with older children or go to a play group for the afternoon and see what happens!

My baby, born february 19th 09 is walking, but not alone. He can walk steadily holding himself onto everything he can find, he's very resourceful in his effort, but...he's hesitating in taking solo-steps. He has done it a few weeks ago, but only a few steps. Its like he wants to be more sure of himself first. I'm not worried (yet). He's a smart cookie, but just taking his time to take it all in I guess.

my daughter is 15 months and is not walking as of yet she does however pull herself up on the furniture i am not worried as she was doubled jointed in her arms so she only started crawling before christmas she is so fast now, all babies are different and will do it in their own time i am just waiting patiently as am sure she will take steps soon

My second son (19th Feb) started walking at 14 months 1 day and within a couple of days was running around everywhere! My first son didn't start walking til he was 17 months, he was talking very early and knew all his colours by 18 months. My second is talking but not as many words as my first, they do everything at their own pace and there's no need to rush things! I think as long as they're happy at the stage they're at you should be too!!

My daughter was born on Feb 5, '09 and is no hurry to walk, either, but she can crawl like nobody's business! She will take a couple steps on her own here and there, and will walk behind one of her little push carts, but that's it. I am not worried, though, because she IS progressing, but because she can get around just fine by crawling, probably doesn't see much incentive to walk just yet! Don't sweat it--he will get there!

I have a 17th feb as well, I have been lucky with the walking as he started walking at 10 months...but I was talking to my excel by 5 parent mentor yesterday and she did say that it is common for some not to walk by 15 months, but if they are taking steps just give them time because it will not be long and they will be running. I asked what do the parents do and she said if they are not even trying to walk talk to the pediatrician at the 15 month check up...

my son was born on the 18th Feb and other than the 5 steps he took at school, he will not walk on his own unless he is holding onto something(preferably someone's hand) Don't worry about it though - they will both be walking soon enough! I know he can - he just chooses not to!

My daughter was born Feb 18 and still isn't walking either - she is happy just cruising on the furniture! I was worried too at first but it's actually normal for kids to not walk until they are about 18 mos. They just do it when they are ready!

I am in the same situation, my daughter will soon be 15 months and is doing the same thing, She takes about 4 or 5 steps and then crawls the rest of the way. I have been to the doctor and she assured me there is nothing wrong with her physically, it's just a confidence thing. Sooner or later the confidence will build and she will walk. Go to your doctor and make sure there is nothing physically wrong with your son, I'm sure you are in the same boat as me, and it is annoying when most of their peers are running by this age but there's nothing we can do about it. Make sure he gets plenty of opportunities to walk around furniture but don't force it, I've noticed my daughter likes to take steps on her own when noone asks for it.

dont worry to much he will get they, some children just take alittle longer then others, my daughter was 15mths on the 10th of may she is walking and started around 11mths she was quite clumzy for awhile there but over the last few mths or so she has gotten alot better and now can run.

my girls are walking now @ 15 months but @ 14 they were doing exactly what ur son is doing. just encourage him w/ the toys he can hold on to and walk. don't worry urself @ some point all kids eventually learn to walk. just wait when he is walking and u r running after him you'll remember how much easier it was when he was not walking. take care!

My daughter was born Feb 25th and is not walking yet, She absolutely loves crawling and will walk along the lounge, I know she's not far, don't rush them trust me until you know there's something to worry about, enjoy it while they are not. Mum's worry to much and try and keep up with each other's children. Let it happen darl!!!!! They all develop differently.

My son doesn't walk yet. But he climbs on everything. I mean he will crawl to the couch pull himself up climb up onto it then crawl over to me and gives me hugs and kisses.

I have twins who were born a day after your son and I have one that is walking and one that would rather walk on her knees. One my daughter has been walking since she was barely 12m. I was concerned as well so i asked the Dr. and she said that some kids are slower at doing things than others. She told me to start being concerned if she still not walking after turning 18m

My son was born 7th Feb and he took his first steps a week before his birthday (max was 4 steps) and was walking properly day before his birthday. It was great, he enjoyed his first party so much as he could get more involved with his older sister & cousins, he now walks around town with me with his reins. He started running about a month ago, hes just got the hang of it tho, he used to tumble abit but now hes mastered it to the max :o)

My son was born the 12th (two months early) and is just now walking. He is very cautious, so I think that is a lot of the delay. He will still crawl if he wants to get somewhere fast.

my son is 14 months and has been walking since the day he turned one. me and my husband would get in the middle of a floor with a toy and pass it back and forth we would get farther and farther apart and have him walk towards us and that helped his balance and helped him learn how to walk

Just remember that every child does things at his or her own pace. My son, whose birthday is Feb. 18, started walking at 10 months.

Mine (15 months on the 23rd) only started walking properly in the last two weeks, After almost 6 months of cruising he just decided one evening that he was bored with that and walked all round the house on first go. He has a friend at baby signing who is coming up on 2 who doesn't walk yet and another who was walking at 7 months! Try not to fret too much (easier said than done I know) - they really are all different..

Theo was born 4th Feb and isnt walking he stands up all the time and walks around the furniture but hes not interested in taking those steps on his own im not bothered its obviously a confidence thing and when we hold his hands to get him to walk he runs so he'll do it when hes ready im expecting him to walk by 18 mths fingers crossed :)
